VACCINE UPDATE: CA will be receiving 327,000 doses of the new Pfizer #COVID19 vaccine in mid December.
Transparency, equity, and safety will continue to be our top priorities as we begin the distribution process for Phase 1.

My concern with the Pfizer vaccine is storage difficulties. Facilities have to be equipped. I've heard Cedars-Sinai has the proper refrigeration equipment.
Keeping coronavirus vaccines in a deep freeze one of California’s big challenges

First responders, and then the hierarchy of risk needs to be the order. And that means rural areas tend to come in later. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

I trust by hierarchy you mean seniors and like. That term is often associated with a group of people according to ability or to economic, social, or professional standing. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Hierarchy merely means order of precedence, and yes, the elderly are high on the hierarchy of risk. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Exactly. Hierarchy is very different than elitism, which is what jodeke is referencing.
People in senior living environments need to be at the top of the priority list, after FL workers. They are at high risk and are at the mercy of the behavior of the staff who work their facilities. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I get the confusion, as hierarchy is usually used to describe the power structure of one organization or another, and thus people separated by rank of importance. _________________ “We must always take sides. I do as well. I'm just illuminating the difference between logistical priorities and personally convenient societal preferences. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Prioritization will be pretty much:
1. First responders and other front-line health care workers.
2. People with health conditions that put them at a much greater risk
3. Other essential workers
4. People in populations that create an extra risk, such as prisons
5. Non front-line health care workers
From there, risk pretty much corresponds to age, so something like:
6. 80+
7. 70+
8. 60+
etc.
One dilemma for how to categorize is families of high-priority cohorts. If a doctor is in Cohort 1 but her husband is much lower, then any exposure from him is an increased risk for her (and yes, she's already vaccinated, but efficacy isn't 100%). |

some of us are concern about the the mRNA vaccine (unless I'm reading it wrong, please reply) that it tells our own cells to make the virus protein to then activate our antibody production... the mRNA signals supposed auto-off after only couple days but my fear is that a malfunction for whatever reason doesn't turn the mRNA, this can lead to something like an autoimmune disease... I'm scared because of the lack of long term studies but with that said, I'm gonna take it |

this is why i don't believe one bit that China has contained the virus. most of the covid cases can easily be masked (intentionally or not) as common flu. i've been in china many times, i know their custom well and how people interact. there's no way they contain the covid in that huge population. |

I hope this vaccine race doesn't turn into a money making venture. The United States is paying Pfizer for 100 million doses with a commitment for another 500 million. That's enough to vaccinate a population of 331 million. They will be free to Americans.

I can think of a couple of industries that will pay whatever the drug companies ask for considering they are experiencing no economic activity because of the coronavirus. |

Former Presidents Obama, Bush and Clinton volunteer to get coronavirus vaccine publicly to prove it's safe
Quote: | Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton are volunteering to get their Covid-19 vaccines on camera to promote public confidence in the vaccine's safety once the US Food and Drug Administration authorizes one. |
Guessing Fauci, Biden and Harris will also do it.
Trump will probably say he's immune and if he bothers, it will not be public. But I think he needs a huge needle, really huge, the biggest ever... _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |
