Damn! Per Woj’s twitter:

How can they trade four picks when you can’t trade picks in consecutive years? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

yeah didnt know you could trade that many 1st rounders... unless they hold to rights to other team's 1st rounders?
You can trade picks up to 7 years in the future.
So their offer is their first round picks in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
So if the Rockets made this trade, it's possible that Butler could be retired before all the picks were cashed in.
I'm guessing Thibs thinks he won't be around to use all of those picks so he wants something that can help him win now and save his job. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

That makes sense. A pick in 7 years has no value if you think someone else will have your job.
That's like politicians who pass budgets that have ridiculous deficits. Won't hurt them now but the later generations... _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
since they are trying to off load brandon knight's toxic contract in the deal this offer is no where near as good as advertised and I wouldnt blame the Wolves for wanting a bit more _________________ (bleep) Kawhi

How is Carmelo going to get his shots if they pick up Jimmy Butler?
Melo is 34yo, on a one year low cost deal, and shooting under 42%. He's the last dog at the bowl to eat whether he likes it or not. He'll still have his Melo Moments throughout the season where he catches fire and they feed him more.
If he can't deal with that he's the easiest one to get rid of. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

He acts like he thinks he is still 24 so I was poking fun at him. With Butler on the team they would be better off without him IMO.

Management might have some hard decisions to think about. Trade away their future for Butler? Or is the Rockets horrible start just an indication that it might be time to rebuild and they will need to keep those picks.

rockets are fine. their only worry is wondering if they are good enough to beat the warriors. everything else is fine. they have talent, they'll fix it soon. It's all easily fixable.

Is Carmelo talented though? He plays defense like an 80 year old man. This article hammers him:
