Suffocating people to death with a knee to the neck is about as awful as it gets.

Chauvin waved his right to a jury if there is a retrial. That means his fate would be in the hands of Judge Cahill. Judges go by evidence and law. IMO that favors the state.

He didn't waive the right to a jury retrial, unless I misunderstood what they said.

He waived the right to have a jury rule on if there were aggravating factors if he is convicted. Meaning if he is found guilty and before sentencing the prosecutors raise aggravating factors which might increase the sentence, the judge will rule on those factors rather than asking the jury to do so.

With his hands in his pockets. That's egregious.

You are correct. Makes sense that he would prefer the judge to rule in that scenario since a jury that has found him guilty is probably going to find him guilty on aggravating factors too.

Thanks for the clarification. 👍🏾

I was hoping for a quick jury decision. I think a quick decision would mean guilty verdicts. The longer they're out the better it is for Chauvin.

I feel a verdict this quick may mean he's been found guilty.

We'll see what the verdict is. I'm so pessimistic when it comes to this stuff.

This quick leans towards guilty on at least one charge.

That's my take.

True. But remember that the OJ jury took only 4 hours to return a “Not Guilty” verdict.

Also true. I think it is likely there is some for of conviction, but we’ve been surprised before.

The jury is half people of color. If the vote was to let him go free, you'd think at least one person would hold out to go over all the evidence first -- which would take more than 1 day. We'll see.
