You might be the sourest person here with the news.
What would have been ideal for you? Phil Jackson? Pat Riley? Popovich? Those guys aren't coming. |

Great to hear that JJ is looking for a more experienced team of assistants, but got to wonder how willing former head coaches are with becoming a rookie coach/podcaster's assistant though... |

I think this'll be good. JJ has the highest BBIQ of any coach we've had since Phil and maybe MDA. |

We still need a championship level roster for the coach to make any difference anyway |
They talked the other day so hopefully that and the First Take video was discussed and cleared up _________________ Previously LBJ23 |

Magic is pumped!
Quote: | I’m cautiously optimistic that this new hire is a success for both the Lakers and JJ Reddick. I enjoyed watching him as a player - great 3-point shooting, high basketball IQ, passion for the game, and mental and physical toughness. If he can bring how he played professionally to the Lakers - this could work out! But will his transition from star basketball player to head coach end up like Steve Kerr, Jason Kidd, Ty Lue, or Doc Rivers or the former NBA players turned coaches who weren’t successful? |

He was so happy just a few days ago.

Kinda crazy how LeBron is getting both his podcast partner as coach and his son as a teammate in one offseason and still tries to pretend he doesn't want to be involved.
That said, given the incredibly limited options, and after a sing n miss on Hurley, I can't say I hate the JJ hire. My gut says he'll be good but that's really not rooted in any facts. Hopefully an "elite staff" is in the works. |

In some ways, I like this hire as at least it isn't rehashing a coach who didn't move the needle elsewhere.
No doubt Redick is young and smart, I thought some of his analysis whenever Doris Burke allowed him to get a word in edgewise was pretty astute.
I am rooting for him to be a success, but I never thought coaching was anywhere near the top of the issues for our team at present so we will have to see how much of an impact he can make with a flawed roster. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Absolutely horrid hiring! Jeanie Buss is a disgrace.
For those asking "who else would you rather have?" Uh...how about someone with more coaching experience than just coaching a youth team?
The dude literally has no qualifications to be the head coach of the L.A. Lakers and he'll be gone within 2 years. |

Great reason to add Rondo - so that we don't sign CP3 _________________ |D||O| |I||T| |R||O||B| |

I haven’t seen anywhere in the reports that it says “they have assurance from another FA”…?
What is your source? |

IG is still holding on that lunch meeting picture that popped up that it's Lebron aka Elton Brand.

AD is cool with JJ. People should stop spreading lies to divide LeKlutch. Let's just forget unfounded rumors and focus on winning championship #18!! _________________ Los Angeles Lakers 2025 NBA Champions!! Go JJ! |

This team is nowhere near championship level and it's doubtful they will be anytime soon. |

Ok, Debbie downer we get it, you hate the hire.
I love it. He's going to be solid. Ham was terrible so he's a huge upgrade, no doubt. High basketball IQ also. He will hire amazing assistant coaches and it will work out.....
Keep in mind, some head coaches become head coaches without experience. It happens. |

again, don't be a Debbie downer. Trades are just starting to happen. We haven't hit the NBA draft or free agency. Patience. |

How can you possibly say he's a huge upgrade? You have no basis in which you can legitimately make that kind of a statement at this point. Just because one has a high basketball IQ, that means zilch. |

Reports that this year they plan to shift things more to AD has been a yearly tradition for some time now. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Nothing new there, what else he’s gonna say? Coaches have been saying for years to lighten the ball handling role of Lebron, but the problem is, Lebron wants the ball in his hand, how can you say no if he’s calling for the ball? |

I’m hopeful for JJ. I think he will be completely willing to submit to the will of LeBron and put 100% of his BBIQ towards putting the rest of the team in positions to support what LeBron wants to do and what LeBron wants AD to do. I don’t know that Ham and Vogel ever accepted that fate, but I think JJ will, and that he must. |
