I question 4 years for a first time coach, especially when you know Bron has 2 seasons max left in him.

Quite some coin short of a 6yr 70m deal…

I feel like 32M is an over pay too. Need to see the new average. I know coach pay has increased with the Monty deal resetting the market.

Based on what Mike Brown got ($8.5M with incentives up to $10M), who is a play-in coach, I think JJ is getting paid at a play-in coach level in the current market. If we miss the playoffs, its an overplay, play-in is a fair deal, and if we make the playoffs outright, he over-performed.

Nobody's taking 2 or even 3 year deal. $32M is like pocket change for any owner.

This is more about the long haul then valuing LeBron’s short window

Maybe JJ can make Reaves a better player. They were similar as players, shooting, no defense. Reaves more moves off the dribble.

Scott Brooks seems like a good move right? Need a former HC with playoff experience to supplement JJ’s lack of either attribute. Iirc Brooks got COTY with OKC.

This is just a sad sad day in lakers history. How low Jeannie has allowed us to sink by bending over to a mercenary like Lebron is an absolute disgrace

its going to be fine, everyone.

Of the available coaches; we took a chance on JJ. High risk with high reward. If it doesn't work out; there is no one that was available that would have given me much confidence anyway. JJ is a question mark and I would take him over Monty and Nori. The only coach that I wonder about is Quinn out of Miami but I'm ready to roll the dice on JJ.

The drama in here is too much. "what a disgrace to hire JJ" lmao, take it easy guys.

Keep in mind I have no idea what makes a good coach. I was very excited about Ham and had no confidence in Vogel. Its a crap shoot and I hope they hit it right on this one.

Everybody loved the Luke hire - failed
Most called the higher of Vogel, a failure - title
General consensus was Ham was Him and our guy for the foreseeable future - failed
Nobody seems to like this JJ hire - TBD

Hope we continue to be wrong

The disgrace is more caused by resisting the bend instead of fully giving over to it. I will be a LBJ hater the millisecond he leaves as I was before he arrived…but make no mistake…LBJ was much more successful the 6 years before the Lakers than the Lakers were the same 6 years before he came.

The Lakers were more of a joke without LBJ than they have been with LBJ. Jeannie should have went with Lue as coach, David Griffith as POBA to govern Rob, and traded the picks. We’d have at least another ship by now and maybe 2 more. Without LBJ…the way things were going…it likely would have been none. At least LBJ went beast mode playing PG full time to lead the NBA in assists for the one ship overcoming an inadequate roster and flawed coach.

If we draft Edey and resign DLo, I'm pretty excited for the new season.

If we trade three first round picks and two good pieces for Murray then I'm pretty scared for our future.

JJ is the least of my worries right now.

Btw it looks to be a 4yr 32m deal…

My mind is open to him because he hasn’t proven he can’t coach.

I have no real concerns about JJ coaching as long as he has a solid staff behind him. The only concern I have is if he can manage all the huge player ego's. This is what made Phil such a great coach. I will full support him until proven wrong (after a couple seasons).

Really, I’m more worried about LeBron & AD playing this summer. As that may very well lead to them both missing many games during the season.

LOL for the people here that think the Lakers are doomed now, they are a clown show, sh**t show, etc.

They just hired a coach. Why is that the end of the world?

From some of you, it seems like you were expecting Spoelstra or Popovich or Kerr or Riley or Phil Jackson to walk thru that door.

I think Redick will be a good coach. Give him the benefit of the doubt. He needs a solid staff. If he gets that, he will be fine. Ham was useless. Standing there during games with his hands in his pockets, never calling timeouts, never making in game adjustments, never having the team ready to play different opponents on each given night. Redick HAS to be better than Ham was just by having brains.....Ham was not a good coach...period.
So, stop the whining and let this play out......
