Terance Mann should be a good obtainable goal for Max. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though."
He's worth drafting at 55. Then re-sign Max, get Doug Christie to coach, Chris Christie to replace Rambis in the FO and, uh, Christie Brinkley to whatever the hell she wants. An all-Christie direction. Christie-mas!
We need at least15 points from Max. 20 year old Jaylen Brown production
This is way too much to ask/expect of him - Jaylen Brown was a Top-3 pick and was widely expected to reach stardom, Christie not so much.
If he just bumps the 3% up to the 35-36 range and continues his defensive progression he’s a really useful player. Hope he’s back and hope he’s given more of an opportunity.
Agreed, I think he's already NBA role-player level. All I'm saying is that if he falls short of Jaylen Brown I couldn't care less, but if he does meet/beat that level then none will be happier.
KCP should be his goal. Even if he never quite gets to the 40/41% KCP does he can be a starter on a really good team if he can be respectful on that end and a defensive dog on the other.
Max is in this video as the next to last defender. Looks like he had fun. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Christie: 38-95 (40%) on spotup 3s
KCP: 104-260 (40%) on spotup 3s
Christie: 1.31 PPP (65% eFG%, 95th percentile) on spot ups
KCP: 1.16 PPP (59.2% eFG%, 81st percentile) on spot ups
KCP is either terrible at or doesn't do isolation, PnR ballhandler, or off screens. The one play type he is good at which Christie doesn't do is DHO and I wonder how much of that is the Denver offense/ Jokic.
TBH, I can't stress this enough, Max is already very good as a 4th or 5th option offensively. He went 42-118 this year, meaning he went 4-23 on non-spot up 3s. Of course that's going to drag his percentages down but we don't need him to be doing that anyway.
This is Max's third season, so there's reason to believe this can be his breakout defensive season. I'm more worried we don't bring him back as a cap casualty because I genuinely think he will be ready for real minutes on a team trying to win (and low key think he can be a good 5th starter).

okay, Sure, Christie Hefner could provide the cheerleaders and the Christie Minstrels could provide the halftime entertainment.

Not the direction I was expecting when I clicked on this thread. This is superb _________________ #Welp
I think his next step in development is rotation player. It doesn’t matter if he’s starting or coming off the bench, but unless he’s getting 24mpg we won’t know what he is or isn’t. _________________ “like I never left”
Because he shot 40% on spotup 3s, he's a good defender, he's a good athlete, and he plays hard. Plus he has a good attitude as far as we can tell.
Yea but some posters here thinks he can come in and start next season...
He showed some little flashes last year. But nothing enough to show that he can be a consistent starter.
If you said that about Reaves' rookie year people would've looked at you funny. But he ended up being ready to start. What I saw from Max is:
The good:
- better defense than any other guard with size on the roster
- pretty good at attacking closeouts
- better positional rebounding than anyone who isn't AD
- 40% on spotup 3s
And the bad:
- Some really bad decision making (passes that went nowhere etc)
- Horrible in isolation
- Still skinny and could be bullied
- his PoA defense can still use work
I think the way Taurean Prince played is exactly how Max Christie should be used. We didn't run any offense through TP; he was a spacer who shot 3s and attacked closeouts. In 3 years maybe Christie develops on ball skills to be a secondary playmaker, but we don't need that from him. Like suppose the Lakers trade for Donovan Mitchell. I think you would want to surround Mitchell, LeBron, and AD with low usage guys who do role player things without messing up the team spacing.
Anyway, that's why my pitch for why I'd be open to him starting. Ultimately the Lakers even in 2023-2024 were GOOD with Christie starting, not because he's an amazing player but because that archetype of 3&D is desperately needed on this roster.

The part about his defense is what irked me most as to why Ham never tried to use him against the likes of Murray, Lillard, or maybe even Brunson.
I thought Max could have some serious success defensively against those type of guys.
I believe 2y8M is fair. Wouldn't be a big Ham fan if was Christie, kept him on bench in contract year. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.'
