Lol what? Charging is a fundamental aspect of basketball since it’s inception. Without it, offensive players just charge to the basket without any regard for human life. And guess what happens? MORE INJURIES.

Classic example of people on the internet being trapped in the moment and not thinking.

The NBA has already ruined its product with all these rule changes of giving offensive players all the advantages in the world to do whatever they want, while defense has suffered greatly. Getting rid of the charge call would make this product completely unwatchable.

I love watching the team defense in European basketball. The NBA is decent one on one but the team defense isn't as great. Watering down the charge rule would help make team defense in the NBA a joke

Tell Mark to spend more time worrying about his team.

I say you don't allow players to jump within the 3 point line.

But if we want to be serious, make a defender have to be set before a player jumps. Although easier said in theory than in practice with these quick players.

Out of control offensive players get injured so the NBA needs to punish the defenders?

If the NBA wants fewer injuries, they should call more charges! That would make offensive players consider better whether or not there is space for them to make their moves.

Cuban doesn't seem to have the best relationship with the other owners.

Get rid of the charge and 51 y old Shaq can come back to the Lakers and average 200 a game.

Zion and Giannis average that and 50 rebounds a game.

Rules shouldn't be changed due to two reckless players.

Defenses have been neutered enough as it is over the years.

I have no problem with extending it out a foot. Similar to expending the court to allow more room for corner threes. Bigger, faster, more explosive, etc. it makes sense.

But the main culprit is the offensive players get rewarded for simply launching into defenders way too often. Start calling it and maybe less enthusiasm for doing it.

That being said, I can envision the changes from the competition committee leaning in favor of players health and taking away a defender’s “right” to defend. The trend is going more and more towards ASG type games with athleticism and long range shooting being more exciting for some fans than actual hard fought competition.

Wonder how far we are from seeing 4 pt lines and 150-148 games on a regular basis?

True. I am surprised many times when a block is called and not a charge...

Call the foul on the guy initiating contact and swallow the whistle on 50/50 plays.

You'll see collisions drop off precipitously. You'll also see players trying to put the ball in the basket instead of looking for free throws.
