This kid better get more minutes, especially with AD out. He’s probably the next best defender on the team. |

And can shoot 40% on 3, though just small sample size. But his shooting stroke is good. |

"...his defense isn't terrible."? What? The young man's defense is EXCELLENT! As he gets more experience, and grows into a stronger body, his defense will become elite. Saw this, and said this, watching him in Summer League. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

It's good right now. It's going to get significantly better w/experience. I loved this pick quickly because I saw the clay w/o the shot at that time. We need lenghty two-way players, and he's got everything going to become just that. Those are the type you build around James & Davis and yes, Russ. At least for now.
Christie, Reaves, Bryant and potentially Walker IV are the players that standout the most in that regard. |

Absolutely. These are the types of players that you build a team with, to have depth around your stars. Need to keep these guys, and continue to team build, from there. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I've been pro Max Christie all summer and into this NBA season. Many folks didn't see that he had the defensive IQ and tools, and just needed to develop his body and get his beautiful jumper set to NBA speed. He's going to be a part of the rotation going forward. Hopefully he can start taking Bev's minutes. (He's already taken all of Nunn's). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I had no idea whether he was any good - I relied purely on Mike's read.
Now I see that he just lacks polish, experience, strength and bulk, he has pretty much all the other basics covered. He does make rookie mistakes like any and every other rookie but I hope Handy/Ham spend quality time with him reinforcing NBA-level decision making e.g. receiving passes, not saving the ball mid/back-court etc. |

For this team to succeed, Reaves and Christie need to be getting the bulk of the minutes next to Lebron and Walker IV.
Stop wasting time on the other “veteran” names.
Reaves
Walker
Christie
Lebron
AD
that lineup would have been nasty, with Christie now emerging. |

I'd put T.Bryant along side them. 6th man or whatever, but he's bringing energy, athleticism, enthusiasm, a little grit, and his 3pt shot is improving because you can see his legs are improving as he returns to the form he had pre-injury.
And, he's the same age as my baby girl, only 25. Yep, I remember 97' with joy! |

This is why you trade Russ to add depth around them. Add to that Myles Turner and Buddy Hield along with Bryant, Gabriel, Brown, etc. |

We have a piece of clay that is: 6'5, willing and able defender, intelligent, minimal turnovers (excellent trait), sweet shooting (see pre-draft note below).
He's currently shooting 43% from three. It's a small sample that, according to a pre-draft note from the Grizzlies, is not an anamoly. He was expected to improve 3pt, shot because he was just getting settled in for his first year adjustment period.
He can play defense and he can shoot the ball.
"Though the percentages didn’t show it at Michigan State, Max Christie has great indicators to bounce back from beyond the arc at the next level. Two statistical barometers for NBA 3-point translation are free throw percentage and efficiency on runners. Christie shot 82.4% from the free throw line and scored 1.143 points per possession on runners (94th percentile, per Synergy Sports). His mechanics are also fluid and repeatable, leading to the belief he can rally back from his off shooting his freshman season

Max scored 15 points for South Bay yesterday.
He played well tonight for the LA Lakers.
Good offense: 8 Points (2-2 from deep), 3 assists.
Good defense (+6), 1 Block, 1 Rebound. |

Wouldn’t be surprised since he’s just 19. I kept growing until after high school. He’s gonna be able to put on alot of good weight too _________________ “like I never left”
