Correction. LeBron looks good, when he's making perimeter shots. He's extremely streaky, though. But, with his decline in speed/quickness/athleticism, he leans on his jump shooting more. When he began cooling off...and STILL kept jacking them up... Makes it harder for the team to win. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Offensive production is fine other taking so many 3s. Way too inefficient when he does. Back to earth tonight at 3-10.
The bigger issue is on defense. He floats around too much. Doesn’t rotate to protect the paint or rebound and rarely sticks to his man beyond the arc or in position to contest. Happens every game. Tonight it cost them on the final shot.
Too bad. It was a nice effort until they squandered it over the past few mins. |

I mean if all we needed from LBJ was Luke Kennard we'd be good to go, but unfortunately we are paying him and Westbrook what one expects to get from Luka or Steph |

I thought he recovered fine on that last shot. Turner's shot missed so bad that it bounced right back their way. Reaves made two critical mistakes defensively in there. Forgot to switch on that Haliburton drive and was caught in no mans land before the game winning shot. |

Ya that last play was on Reaves and Shroeder. They attempt a half assed double team, which forced AD to leave his man to stop the drive. Lebron had to help the helper…it could’ve been an open dunk otherwise.
Lebron knew he was in a bad spot cuz you see him sprint to the shooter the second Halliburton gathered the ball for the pass |

Why would anyone with sense guard against a two score, when a two score only ties the game...whereas a three score wins it? Just a simple, "why?". _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Because you play the percentages at that point. Also the guy underneath was an easier pass to make for Haliburton. A cross court pass will allow Lebron to recover which he did. I thought he played that right. Nembrand just made a hell of a shot. That's the best you can do, if you have to guard two wide open guys.
Question is WTH was Russ doing there starting from the inbound? |

Just listened Lebron post game. He said “AD was playing 2, I was playing 2, then they found a shooter on the weak side.”
Does playing 2 mean that Our guys deliberately prioritized stopping a 2 point shot and forcing them to shoot from the perimeter???? It sure seemed like it with the way Reaves and Shroeder overreacted on that drive by Halliburton.
If so ….

Reaves should’ve went to the corner guy instead of doubling, AD was out of the position because he had to shadow the corner guy who happen to be Buddy Hield. Then he lost his defense position which lebron had to shadow the paint to help on Smith. Russ was on turner, could lebron make a decision to give up the possible 2? Sure, but the possession started going south as soon as Buddy Hield was left open. By the way, that was inexcusable for Reaves who was in the game of guard Buddy Hield |

Because they were in no man’s land. AD can’t just leave the corner guy open and lebron can’t leave the paint open. |

Nembhard didn't make a "great shot", in the context of it being a high level of difficulty make. It was a wide open shot. That's just facts. Yes, other guys were out of position. Actually, two guys were open from three on that last play. Hield in the corner, and Nembhard from the elbow. If the pass had gone to Hield, then that's not on LeBron, since he was out of LeBron's vision.
Nembhard WAS in LeBron's vision. LeBron had a choice. Guard against a game tying two. Or, guard against a game winning three. He made a choice. Pacers won. The end. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

They would not be in that situation if Russ did not blow his rotation and sold out to try to recover. Which put the rest of the Lakers in scramble situation. |

Uh, yeah. You actually CAN leave the paint wide open. It's not idea. But, in a scramble situation, with guys out of position, you make snap judgments. In that scenario, a vet like LeBron should have known the priority is to prevent potential game winning scores. In this instance, a three. So, why are both AD AND LeBron doubling down on Turner in the paint, with Nembhard wide open on the perimeter? That's just elementary stuff. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Do me a favor and watch the play again. Russ was guarding Mathurn until AD told him to cover tuner which he did. Not sure why AD feels like Russ could’ve bothered Tuner on a 3, but I am sure Reaves should never leave Buddy Hield open in the corner |

Yeah, Reaves made a mistake doubling the ball handler. That meant someone was going to get an open shot.
Lebron and AD did their jobs on that play. If Lebron rotated out to the 3-point line, they get a layup.
The problem was that it was a wild shot that caromed on the rim and then off someone's fingertips, so everyone was scrambled and out of position. |

Our guys sold out on the dribble penetration like they weren’t tryna have a tie game and have to play another 5 minutes. |

I disagree. LeBron did not do his job on that play. He chose to double down in the paint, leaving a shooter wide open from 3. That was a bad choice. By LeBron. If that had been anyone else, I would be keeping the same energy. But, in this instance, it was LeBron. You don't prioritize guarding against a potential game tying score, over a potential game winning score. _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |

^ probably not in anyone’s instinct to leave the paint open for a layup instead of a 3 it is like 99% vs 40%, but obviously lebron could’ve done that being as smart as he is. |

Why are so many re-constructing the final play so hard. It happens every game.
James does this literally every game. He drifts near the paint and leaves 3 pt shooters wide open and then barely contests as they take the shot. At times not even lifting his hand.
Rough part is he floats into the edge of the paint. All too often not battling for a rebound or even boxing out. Just kind of drifting in between. This time just burned him and the Lakers
The loss had more to do with other mistakes and boneheaded plays well before that game winning shot. |

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. |

Lebron was pissing me off in the 4th quarter with his over dribbling and lack of assertiveness on offense.
This led me to initially blame him for the last shot as he dug too far into the paint and was slow to close out.
However, after rewatching the defensive possession was doomed from the start.
- Lack of communication which led to Turner being open.
- Not getting the defensive rebound.
-reaves + Dennis doubling causing AD to help and then Lebron having to sink in.
can’t really blame Lebron too much for that.

That last possession was on all our guys. Reaves and Shroeder double teaming a dribble drive with AD and Lebron in position to help on that drive. They all chose to stop a 2 point shot attempt. |

It's one of those things that has come to be expected. Like not getting back on defense after a missed shot...or, a turnover...or, for most any reason. The days of LeBron's chase down from behind blocks is a thing of the past. The requisite athleticism isn't there, anymore. Nor, is the desire.
From my viewpoint, LeBron is clearly prioritizing passing Kareem, over winning. If he can win, while getting the record, cool. But, breaking the record comes first. And, he's got his money, so... _________________ ZOOM!!!!!!!!!!!! |
