"Caving In" never results in a good trade
When "moving the needle" is greater than "better than what [the Lakers] have now" - trade will happen
Waiting to see what happens with the Mavs, Nets, Clips, Rockets, Bulls and other unnamed teams that are having problems - Lakers can be part of their deals as a third party to dramatically improve the team. |

I'm not the most optimistic person by nature when it comes to these sorts of things. However, if somehow Russ as 6th man continues to work, if the team could find a way to get Turner for a single pick (and outgoing salary) while keeping Russ, now that would be interesting.
But who am I joking here? _________________ "One thing I admire about Kuzma is his unwavering confidence. He truly has no idea that he’s not as good as he thinks." - Killer_Z |

Why not give it to them?
Nunn/Bev/FRP for Turner
Turner/Bryant/Jones
AD/Gabriel/JTA
LBJ/TBjr/Ryan
Walker/Reeves/Christie
Shroeder/WB
Better yet...flip WB for Hayward and Rozier and compete for a title...what team has a better 8-man rotation than the one below?
Turner
AD
LBJ/TBjr
Hayward/Walker
Rozier/Schroeder |

If we have no intention of trading aD Sacrificing a pick for a 5 like Myles is probably smart _________________ Kobe.

We are not winning anything year no matter what trade the lakers could do.
Best thing to do is stand pat, unless of course someone is willing to take our junk without picks attached (pretty much impossible lol) |

If AD is the future you have to start building around him.
Myles turner
Patrick Williams
Are perfect for him. _________________ Kobe.

I could see the Lakers doing this, but I wouldn't call it a no-brainer.
Turner is an inconsistent, injury-prone player who is looking for a big contract next year.
I could understand why the Lakers would take a pass on him or hesitate to trade a FRP for him. |

whatever it is, we need to make a move/deal to get a big and a couple shooters. Nunn and Beverly can go along with whatever combo of picks and Russ. If we keep Russ and still get a few good guys, do it. |

Legitimate concern...definitely have to factor in injury possibilities into roster structure. Consider:
If either AD or Turner miss time the other plays the 5, LBJ PF, Hayward SF, Walker SG, Rozier PG...would still be ok.
If AD and LBJ are out at the same time the Lakers could go with Bryant at C, Turner PF, Hayward SF, Walker SG, Rozier PG...could stay afloat.
These injury insurances are further covered with TBjr emergence plus Schroeder is capable of manning the starting PG spot. Factor in Reeves and injury problems are further mitigated. We would be taking players that may be currently the 3rd, 4th, and 5th options and making them 6th, 7th, and 8th...Walker/TBjr/Schroeder plus Reeves/Bryant. Players like Jones, Gabiel, JTA, Ryan, Christie would only see the floor for double emergencies.
It might not work, nothing is sure...but it might work. Am I among the few that are so SICK AND TIRED of losing that the possibility of it working is considered? Even if it is something that another fan doesn't want to do doesn't it seem like a feasible plan? What is the alternative? Continue to accept losing?
Obviously LBJ/AD would need to be available and couldn't miss long stretches, but with the versatility of this proposal the team could even manage minutes to reduce the injury opportunity. Most importantly instead of just continuing to lose, the team may be able to compete for a championship if it works.
Players at each position for injury insurance:
Rozier Schroeder Reeves Lebron
Hayward Walker Reeves Rozier Christie
LBJ TBjr Hayward JTA Reeves Ryan
AD LBJ Turner Gabriel JTA
Turner AD Bryant Jones Gabirel |

Can get Turner in the off-season for cap space and keep the picks. |

Because Defense isn't our team's problem. Hield would be more valuable to us than Turner, if Bryant comes back well enough. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

One thing to keep in mind is that if you make a move for Hield or Turner, any plan for cap space is gone. Turner is going to want a $20m+ contract. I'm fine with giving him that but in that case, he becomes your free agent signing basically. Hield is under contract for $19.2m next season. You'd technically still be under the cap if you make no other moves, but you wouldn't have a whole lot to spend.
If you are bringing in guys who you would like to keep (and this might be the case) then it does give you a chance to keep your own free agents, as well, if Jeanie is willing to pay their salary. If you make a move though for just one person, you won't have much left in cap space. If that's the difference between 1 and 2 picks maybe the front office thinks that would be worth it. But it does deserve to be mentioned, as it should be something that is factored in. If they moved Westbrook, for example, they could bring back $40-50ish in salary and have the bird rights on those players. Where if they head into free agency, they will have at most $30m at the most. |

I don't understand why people say Turner would space the floor for us. He hasn't shot at least 35% from downtown in four seasons, and he's shot over 36% percent just once in his seven full seasons in the NBA. |

No trades
Won't help
Davis, Lebron and Westbrook need to be purged. Pelinka is a problem too. Jeanie is going nowhere, so work on fixing the rest. |

What are we waiting for? Him to not suck and the Pacers not asking for two first round picks. Oh, and also for Buddy to be able to do something besides shoot.
Face it kids, we suck. We got a banner in 2020 and now is the down time. Buckle in because with LeBron and AD we aren't winning again. Don't get me wrong, I love those guys. We won the Championship, but they suck up too much of the salary.
The other question is why is there this desire for shooters? Because we have bad ones? OK, true. But we are just terrible on defense too.
Why trade away assets when it won't help the team compete? |

Up until the last few games the Lakers were #2 in defensive rating. Some bad performances against good teams they have fallen a bit, but they are still not a bad defensive team. They are dead last in shooting though at just 29.1%. The offense is #26 out of 30 teams. And the lack of shooting is the largest cause of that.
Now I think the Lakers pretty much destroyed this season when they didn't make the trade in the preseason. There may be no recovering at this point. But those two certainly would have made a big difference in that regard, which would have opened up the floor and made the offense look a heck of a lot better. But they would have also been better defensively by adding Turner. |

He missed about 50% of Indy's games the last two seasons, and so far has missed 50% of Indy's games this season. |

Maybe. I will admit that it is not an exact science. But I haven't heard of one option that is better than Russ, considering his contract expires. This team is certainly not good enough to pull itself out of the hole they are in now. They could win 8 in a row and still be at 500. I say feed LeBron so he gets the scoring record sooner just to keep people in the seats. |
