Except for Kawhi being there, the Clippers are currently the more likeable team than the Lakers.
Hate that I'm feeling this way but I am |

Clippers are 4-4 and Kawhi is having trouble with his knee again.
I never bought the Clippers hype for this season, but I had no idea they would look this weak to start the season.
Could it be that Kawhi's knee is in worse shape long term than they were letting on? |

Clippers' 4 wins this season are against Lakers, Kings, Rockets and Rockets. Even when the Clippers suck they still manage to beat the Lakers. |

Kawhi is done as a basketball player. Paul George isn't good enough. They have no picks for the future. |

I am grateful for Frank, AD, Bron, KCP, Caruso, Dwight, Rondo that first year. I think all of them had the sort of seasons and impact that since that season they have not repeated. We got fortunate that everything fell in place at the right time, from the coaching situation, to AD's health, to Bron peaking at the right time , Rondo peaking at the right time too, Dwight's motivation to prove he's a champion etc etc.
The Clips OTOH made all the right moves on paper, hired the coach who everyone thought was much better and we should have, and did a lot of other stuff that should have put them in the better position. Yet now looking at Kawhi, we're so fortunate that we had that 19-20 year. I'll never take it for granted. Was an awesome run and season. Clips still yearning for that feeling. |

Yup, a team that relies on Kawhi will not win a Championship period especially going forward.. He won with the Spurs when he was mostly a role playing defensive specialist and still extremely young and then went to the Raptors who allowed him to play more of a closer role where he was just that final piece to put them over the top to an already Contender. He is an absolute beast when he plays and is healthy there is no denying that but the dude is a quiet absolute diva that gets forgiven more then i've ever seen from any other Superstar. AD gets blasted constantly about his health while Kawhi was celebrated as the reason the Clips would finally win a Championship this year while he missed even more games then AD in recent years and has much worse on going health issues.
It is mind boggling to me that anyone actually would pick the Clippers as a top Contender when the other Superstar is PG13 who looks great at times but has crumbled nearly every chance he's had in the Playoffs for his entire career. All that nice depth of role players is worthless when you start moving up in he Playoffs, you have to have those legitimate peak playing Superstars as well or you have no chance 99% of the time imo.
Thankfully I do not see the Clips having much of a real chance at winning a Championship this year. |

Most of the above is true ; however they’re way better off than our team. I mean we couldn’t beat Reggie Jackson last year with AD and Bron healthy. Jokes on us. |

Can't argue against that at all but most of the even biggest Laker homers know we aren't legitimate contenders. I had several Clipper fans I know all hyped up before the Season and talking trash about how it was there year 😂
As ugly as things are for us at least we got a Championship out of it.. The Clippers have still never even made the Conference Finals in there Franchise yet. |

It has a bit more to do than that. I thought heading into the playoffs Lebron and Dwight were struggling a bit, then Covid hit and we had that break. I think that break just before the Playoffs allowed the older members of the team to recover a little from the season. Just my opinion anyway.
Everything fell our way that year. It was an amazing experience. |

It sickens me to see the damned Cleveland Cavs let the Clippers beat them in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter, right after they destroyed my Lakers. |

Clipper trolls have been mighty quiet of late.
AD has been out forever and he's still played in more games this year than Klaw.
I give Ty Lue mad props for the coaching job he's done, but had he taken the Lakers gig he'd have another ring and (IMO) greater potential for more. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

Clips are losing right now because Kawhi has no lift from that knee. He can barely run at moderate speed, and Paul George is on his mid-season vacation. I also notice that the Clips are overloaded with perimeter shooters and they don't have that scrappy rebounder or that guy who will get into someone's face. Clips also don't have much leadership on that team. Everyone's way too chill. Clips are too good of a team to be f'ing up like they are. I expect Balmer to clean house if they continue to falter. |

400 pages later, I think the lesson here is that you could have any combination of role players and it won’t matter if your stars aren’t available.
Ballmer wants to win badly, but his stars are not dependable.
Jeanie can’t afford to own the Lakers, but her stars were available for a deep playoff run after 4+ months off and mentally adapted to the bubble better than any other star duo. |

I think that’s more of a Ballmer obsession which I believe hurts him in the long run.
The whole “beat the Lakers, run LA” obsession is why they end up losing to a team like the Nuggets |

They are closer to a rebuild than many other teams, simply because half of the players on that roster are 30 or over. They'll get run out of the building by younger teams.
It does seem like Kawhi is no longer the same player after his chronic tendinopathy diagnosis. |

If you want a REAL screwed up draft future, it’s the Clippers.
I would love for the Lakers not to end up joining the clippers by wasting those ‘27, ‘29 and any other FRPs. If you get a sure fire top end player, sure, but not for bloated value role players. |

Had we gone after Jimmy Butler instead of Kawhi . . . of course, going after Klaw forced the Clippers to empty their wallet for PG . . . _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |
