Former Arizona standout thrives in new role with hometown Lakers
Quote: | “People forget that he was a top-10 pick in our league and he’s only 25 years old,” LeBron James said of Johnson in a January postgame news conference.
“He’s a guy that’s hungry and a guy that wants to go out and prove he belongs in the NBA.” |

If he works obsessively on his 3 this summer and shoots ~35% for us next year that will be an absolute game-changer. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

Stanley with a catch and shoot jumpshot = NBA rotation player on a good team. |

Yes.
Unfortunately one can say that (or similar) about a myriad of borderline players that fill NBA benches and/or exit the NBA, I hope it happens but won't count on it. |

Lakers' offseason Day 31. Stanley Johnson is seemingly following in Alex Caruso’s footsteps as he too is training with shooting coach Jordan Lawley this offseason to improve his shooting. That'a all folks!

I hope Wenyen Gabriel and Austin Reaves do something similar. |

The Lakers intend to re-sign Stanley Johnson on a 1-year, $2.4M deal this summer.

All the great NBA players are always dedicated and "All In" on improving and adding to their game.
Stephen Curry is ALWAYS working on his game. On the other side, WestBrick (among many others) are depending on past glory with the hope that their declining skills will keep them in the league while feeling no need to always being better.
Gabriel, Reeves and Johnson appear to to be very hungry and dedicated to dramatically improve their game to take full advantage of the opportunities given to them. They have seen the success of players such as Caruso to Rick Van Vleet and others that needed opportunities to show what they can do.
Gabriel to Reeves and Johnson working their butts off is greater than Kyrie (who missed over half of the games and wan't into playing the game because he was given uber amount of talent while not feeling the urgency to improve his game.
Passion for The Game and High Basketball IQ means the following:
* Play hard on every second they are on the court
* Don't miss defensive assignments
* Always moving
* Blocking out
* Wins the majority of the 50/50 balls
* No careless mistakes |

Picking up the team option on Stanley was a no brainer. Glad that this got taken care of. I would bring back Gabriel too. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I feel like some players gave their all last year and some didn't
Stanley and Gabriel gave all they had every time they stepped on the floor
Best of luck to you and I hope we made the right decision. We traded you for a midget! |

TNT/Stanley got their contracts and were wanted by another team
PatBev wanted to be in LA to be their needed defensive stopper and an example of their defensive identity. |

They basically picked him up from waivers and then traded him for an all NBA defensive player. |

And that is quite the indictment on THT's tenure here. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

No they didn’t, let’s not stretch the truth that far. He would have had situational opportunities but his defense likely won’t be replaced. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
