Braves hold on for the win. Alonso actually hit a little pop-up that resulted in Lindor being forced at second for the first out. Then after Vogelbach pinch hit and struck out, they pinch ran for Alonso and stole 2nd with the 2 outs, but McNeil bounced out to Jansen to end the game.
Braves are back within 3.5 of the Mets. Fried (2.60 ERA now) outdueled deGrom. |

The season series is now:
Mets: 9
Braves: 7
They have 3 games left in Atlanta. I think Atlanta must sweep the last 3 to win the season series 10-9 and get the tie breaker. Without the tiebreaker, Atlanta has to be ahead of the Mets by 1 game. That's a tough order.
If they sweep the final 3 games, they'll be in great shape to win the division. |

wow
Also, getting rid of Gallo in favor of Benintendi hasn't worked out either. |

Yeah, the Yankee lineup is looking really ordinary right now without Stanton. They were getting A+ production from Judge, A production from Stanton, and even guys like Matt Carpenter looked resurrected. But the hitting has fallen apart, they traded Montgomery which is looking bad now, and they've lost Holmes now too. They are 11-19 in their last 30, 15-25 in their last 40, 22-28 in their last 50, and an even 30-30 over their last 60. Houston looks like the clear AL favorite. I actually kind of like Seattle as a darkhorse, after getting Castillo. The top of their rotation is quality, their bullpen is quality, and if Jesse Winker remembers that he's Jesse Winker down the stretch and into the postseason, it could elevate a so-so lineup to being decent. I'd like Toronto a bit more if Berrios wasn't having such a horrible year, and I'm unfazed by his good start today because it came against the depleted and reeling Yankees. |

The Padres lost to the Nats 3-1, and the Nats scored 2 in the top of the 9th that were charged to Darvish, although Hader was on the hill when both runs scored. With the Brewers' win over us earlier, it means that the Brew Crew are back within 1 game of San Diego for that last Wild Card spot.
We still lead the Mets by 6 for best record in the NL, and by 5.5 over Houston for best record overall. We have 7 fewer losses than both of those teams. |

I hope we see both DeGrom and Scherzer when we go to New York end of this month. It would be a good test for our team. Also can't wait to see Alcantara this Sunday against us. I really want our team to be tested by best pitching before the post season. |

Yeah, seeing deGrom and Scherzer would be great. If I'm the Mets, I'd keep them out.
The more you get to face a pitcher, the more familiar you become |

Bellinger benched again. I don’t think this is a Dave Roberts’ decision. I don’t think he has the balls, seeing as how loyal he is to every other veteran. I think this is coming from Friedman. I think Friedman’s had enough. |

Not gonna lie, I feel like some of our young guys (Outman, Vargas, etc.) were contributing a lot more than the guys coming back from injury. |

Yeah Chris Taylor and Justin Turner have killed our mojo since being inserted into the lineup. |

I think Taylor needs some prescription goggles or something, like Wild Thing in Major League. |

What the f was their catcher doing? Lol. They probably had Mookie dead to rights at home if he just stayed there. |

Who made the mistake in your opinion? Third baseman or catcher? |

They said he thought they would go for the double play so then his position was to back up first. I've never seen that before in my life. |

Both of them, frankly. With Will running, that's a DP ball imo, so the third baseman should have come up throwing to second. However, as the catcher, I don't think you assume that in that situation, particularly since the third baseman did have to leave his feet momentarily, so you just stay there in case he decides to make the safe play to get the out at home.
This is very interesting, as Phillips is coming in, not Kimbrel. |
