That's because Lebron is about to turn 38 and because Lebron, Davis, and Irving all have recurring injury issues. If Lebron was about to turn 28 instead of 38, the discussion would be different. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Yeah, Bron at that age was going to what 9 or 10 straight Finals? Pretty sure when most are calling him top 3-5 they are referring the prime version and not the latter career version who is still damn good tbf. Kind of like how nobody was expecting Jordan to win a Championship for the Wizards because he was widely considered the GOAT by many.
Even today though a team with a healthy Bron, AD and Irving is absolutely capable of beating anyone but that injury concern is a massive one obviously. |

I predict the lakers go on a 3 peat and lebron is crowned as the undisputed GOAT of all time and retires with 7 rings. |

If Bron/AD/Kyrie only had to play one 7 game series to win a championship, I’d give them as good of odds as anyone. However there is a full regular season and then three best-of-7 series to be played before that, which is a battle of attrition. The Lakers version of LeBron is anything but injury-defying. AD is basically guaranteed to miss games for a twisted ankle, thigh bruise, etc and Kyrie is a total wild card.
There’s no denying their talent, but the chances of them collectively remaining healthy for a full season + playoffs is next to zero. Best we could hope for is a healthy playoff run, but good luck with even qualifying if they miss too much time in the RS. |

I don't think the majority of realistic Laker fans would argue with any of that much but sadly it's far and away also the only semi realistic way we could have a real chance at Winning another Championship next Season considering all the other possible trade proposals which make us marginally better if anything with the same Season long huge pressure on AD/Bron.
They def. wont all stay healthy for the full Season but I think they could easily still get a solid seed if AD plays a good chunk while Kyrie/Bron don't overlap much time missed but that's obviously not something you can count on happening with any kind of certainty. It's a messed up situation we're in currently so it's more so about what's the better messed up scenario to roll with for at least next Season? |

You know what’s happening? My best guess, an extension….with KD about to walk back his trade demand.
Quote: | Late last month, multiple people familiar with the Nets’ Kevin Durant talks were pessimistic about the possibility of a deal getting done in the near future. Part of the pessimism stemmed from the idea that, as of last month, there was little appetite in the market for teams to serve as a third or fourth team to facilitate a Durant trade. “No one wants to help (Brooklyn get a deal done),” one team remarked. – via SportsNet New York
|
Quote: | Kyrie Irving returned to play basketball in New Jersey on Thursday night, the Brooklyn Nets posted videos and photographs of the night and a rapprochement between the two sides appears in the making. The West Orange native and ex-St. Patrick School star hosted his “More Than A Run” All-Star Game before a big crowd at Kean University that included his Nets teammates Royce O’Neale, Kessler Edwards and David Duke. Perhaps more significantly, the Nets official Instagram account posted videos and photos of the night. – via Adam Zagoria @ Newark Star-Ledger

The strongest rumor is that Brooklyn wants to move KD first, and then perhaps Kyrie afterwards. The Lakers want Kyrie badly no doubt but are not inclined to fork over two frps. Got it.
Everything seems to be at an impasse. If both teams want to resolve both matters, and it does work in the trade machine, and yes we would have to surrender two frps, but a KD+KI for Westbrook+AD plus two frps would move assets quickly.
I said quickly, not fairly. Someone else proposed that trade, but I hadn't seen if it actually worked, and it does. |

Seems like it…the internet is full of awesomeness sprinkled with pockets of annoyances. Supposedly that video was from a 2K event in 2019. 😑 _________________ Not familiar with the salary cap/CBA rules & how it impacts our Lakers?

I agree. I think they need Kyrie and another shooter to be able to compete. With Kyrie and Hield then maybe they have a chance. |
Perhaps. But you know...

Meanwhile the Warriors and Curry just won a Championship with Andrew Wiggins as their 2nd best player.
It's just interesting to think about. |
The biggest takeaway from that is Kyrie and AD can’t be counted on to stay healthy. |

Got to be honest, I highly doubt KD is built for the Lakers. He's more a Clipper kind of guy (likes the lifestyle but can't handle the pressure of being That Guy on the lakeshow). |

Hard to reconcile this continued insistence that Kyrie is happy in BKN with the report yesterday that he dislikes/distrusts Nash and Marks as much as KD.
Clearly there are two totally distinct messages coming from different sides of the story that are competing for acceptance. |

I would take all of that with a grain of salt, both from Kyrie's side, and from the fact that the owner is likely to want him gone regardless. _________________ “We must always take sides. Isn’t Kyrie from that area? It shouldn’t be a surprise that he likes playing close to home. The talk about him liking or not liking the FO is just media chatter for now. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Agreed. That was in fact my point: that all the competing, seemingly contradicting narratives being reported are pure posturing from different sides and ought not be read into very much.
The reality remains unchanged in my mind: if Durant is traded, it’s likely Kyrie will be as well. If Durant stays, it is overwhelmingly likely that Kyrie stays too. |

Quote: | Nets star Kyrie Irving wants to make it clear he does not hate coach Steve Nash or general manager Sean Marks despite what a source told The Post about his feelings Monday.
“I am not sure where this narrative is coming from but Kyrie does not hate Steve nor Sean. That’s not a part of his being nor how he represents himself in the world. He’s about peace, love and acceptance,” his agent and stepmother Shetallia Riley Irving told The Post.
His agent declined to comment on whether Irving agrees with Kevin Durant, who reportedly wants Marks and Nash fired.

It's just interesting to think about. | The biggest takeaway from that is Kyrie and AD can’t be counted on to stay healthy. | With the latest buzz on the "reason" why KD wants to be traded is that their "direction" has changed plus KD/Kyrie believed that the would be Co-Managing the Nets. Of course, having the "power" without having any consequences or implications is like something that kindergarden children wants.
KD has effectively killed any realistic options to have any viable trades plus he is under contract with the Nets for years plus he says that retirement is not in the cards for next year. |

If you told me I could have
PG.Kyrie
PF.Davis
Both at 27 years old I am trading every pick until 2050.
Do you know how hard it is to have a team that can win a chip?
When was the last time boston won?
Yes they just made the finals but what if this is as far as they go? Then now they have to retool? Draft again? (bleep) that. Lets go win a chip
Kyrie
Walker
LeBron
Davis
Bryant
Lets go |

Kyrie is 30 and AD is 29. Both haven't played a full season in years. |
