You operate as if Lebron won’t be here beyond next season, I don’t see any moves that we would be able to make conflicting with that. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

It's not LeBron's call, though he loves to keep teams hostage. IF
the FO takes the blinders off and feel he will move on, say to the
GSW,'s as he has signaled he would like to play with them. In this case, I
would trade him but for value. The man is a living basketball legend, you
don't want to get a bunch of chumps back.
Tough call, yes, but get something back if he's moving on.
I think the FO are chicken and will wait it out and watch him walk to the Warriors. Then we can all blow fuse discussing how we did not see this
coming; ala Kawhi, LOL. LeBron has mentioned the GSW's about 2-3 times now.
My 2 cents; are the FO will sit back and play "que sera, sera". _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Emplay, say the Warriors go after LeBron what would a deal look like and from talking to people around the Lakers are they prepared to field trade offers if both sides can’t come to a agreement on a extension? |

This is LA not Cleveland or even Miami... We have more Championships and Finals appearances than you do.
We won chips long before you were born and will continue to win long after you retire and you and I both are dead.
You will NOT hold us ransom.

This tweet is catching some heat, but I agree with the premise.

There is actually multiple strikes on this tbh:
1. He is 38 years old and is getting injured more frequently.
2. He can no longer carry a team and cover up his horrible LeGM-ing
3. His main sidekick plays like he’s 35 years old.
Hostage game is not worth it anymore imo. |

IG, I’m not actively looking to trade him if I’m the Lakers but if something makes sense, imo you have to do it.
No one would trade 30 year old Lebron…but 38 year old Lebron is in play. |

But they won't at the cost of adding salary past this year and likely giving up a pick.
I still under the impression that Jeanie is ok with letting this all play out. Think she is done with Klutch's continuly trying to force the organization into unwise decisions. She'll never admit it in public because she would not undermine the appearance of the Lakers being player focused.
So, our fortunes lie with Health, Rob and Darvin _________________ Darvin |

So, our fortunes lie with Health, Rob and Darvin | Does that mean we would be left with
AD/Westbrook (always injured and always injuring the backboard players)
Starting "The Process" again
Who would the Warriors should give up - Anybody/Everybody not name Curry, Klay or Draymond???
Hmmm..... |

The biggest issue I see is the Lakers have self inflicted this reputation of not caring about picks or assets, so of course the rest of the league is just waiting for them to (bleep) up again.
Between Pelinka/Klutch and Magic casually in Jeanie’s ear, the other execs just wait it out, laugh and say thank you. |

Russ will be gone. they will have to convince Lebron to come back to a AD/THT/ Austin Reeves plus future #1s that are either dealt away or pick swapped with the Pels for the remainder of his career.
Not appealing if you are trying to with a chip in years 21 plus. _________________ Darvin |

It'd be interesting to see how sensitive Lebron is about his legacy. Would he want to be remembered as being traded for a paltry return? KD almost nixed the trade for DLO because he was reportedly worried it would affect his legacy to be traded WITH a draft pick for DLO. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

People will forget about the trade. I had totally forgotten about KD's s&t to Brooklyn. Even Shaq and the guy he's chasing, Kareem, got traded during their careers. What people won't forget is him playing on 30 win teams. That would hurt his legacy much, much more.
Most fans I know won't be upset if he's gone. My opinion is they should try to deal him for 1-2 assets, thank him for his 'services', and move on to the next generation of Laker basketball. |

I take Jeanie's word at face value that LBJ will be a Laker as long as he wants to be. TBD what comes next though if he says he doesn't want to be in LA. Until then, I'm assuming he strings them along year-by-year _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |
