Wowza. |
You can add Minnesota to the list of forward thinking, modern NBA organization.
They are finally on the correct path. Meanwhile, Jeanie is still fixated on the 90s and Doc. |

Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez put together a list of five POBOs to target shortly after purchasing the Timberwolves, sources say.
Originally Pat Riley was on that list. These are the most recent five names, sources say:
Tim Connelly
Masai Ujiri
Daryl Morey
Bob Myers
Sam Presti |
Jeannie has been around basketball longer than Arod, yet even he's smart enough to come up with such a list of POBO's to target.
Just shows how clueless Jeannie is in general. Do you think she's even capable to put together a list of POBO's that isn't basked with nepotism? |

Lakers have been linked with Sam Presti believe it or not and are likely trying to see if Pelinka can hold his own before going after another GM. |

The Lakers identifying a young, elite executive and throwing a bunch of money at them in order to lure them over is my dream. Maybe some day. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

History will most likely repeat itself.....consolation prizes...a draft pick in the teens, Westbrook contract expiring, LeBron points record
Top-end talent looks good on paper, but in practice....too old, too injury prone, and too stubborn/can't shoot
This is a teardown......
Teams that are all still standing have a team-building philosophy that they stay the course with, a coaching culture, and roster depth |
Your argument may or may not be correct.. personally I think LeBron and AD + the correct level of depth/young legs/IQ/coaching can still be a true contender. However, that is up for debate, I suppose. Can it be done in one summer? That's definitely up for debate.
But what's the point of tearing it down and starting a long rebuild when we don't have control of so many of our picks between now and 2027? I mean you want a 4-5 year rebuild when NO can swap and steal our lotto picks?
Personally, I'd put faith in Jesse & Joey and their proven track record at drafting by buying as many picks as possible and letting them work their magic. This might contradict what I just said but I'd also simultaneously be open to moving/swapping picks in 2027-29 if we can build a legit championship team while adding young players in the 2nd round/undrafted. |
We technically only owe (1) pick to NO, this year is a swap.....you replenish picks and young players with a defense-first philosophy.....then you go big game hunting with free agents going into FA for the first time(Devin Booker, KAT, Tatum) is the next realistic pool of talent coming up
My point is there is no point in treading water, it's best to just move on to the next iteration of a championship contender with all the obstacles in the way of contending for a championship
Unless you can turn Russ into a Kyrie or Harden |

Jeanie's playing 4D-chess and directed Pelinka to tank the Lakers this year so she could fake out the Wolves and "shield" Rambis/Pelinka from their prying paws? |

Jeanie is much more likely to keep Rambis and fire Pelinka in the near future, we will probably go after Phil/Presti/Masai/Sean Marks for the POBO |

I don't know where this Sam Presti stuff comes from. His GM strengths (drafting, IDing underpaid role players, G-leaguers) are all in things Jeanie would not even recognize as strengths. Her prism would strictly be "what big names did he get?"
Drafting Durant/Harden/Westbrook isn't nearly as impressive to her as trading everything you have for them. |

actually a much better use of draft picks than overpaid role players on expiring deals or washed up former superstars. With a good GM, you might get someone that can recoup what you gave up. If it's a good coach, they can be your coach for many seasons and get better with experience each season. And whatever you pay them, it doesn't count against your cap space. You don't have to worry about them becoming injured and giving you zero benefit.
Players meanwhile are declining assets, that are one injury away from becoming financial deadweight.
I honestly can't imagine a more valuable use of draft picks than wresting control from Pelinka/Rambis, who are basically throwing away picks with dumb trades every year.

Jerry Buss basically screwed all his kids basketball wise while making them all rich.
Jeanie is not hiring any outsider because of the fear of getting thrown out by her own siblings |

2027 first round pick for Nick Nurse -- fired after one season for not winning a championship
2029 first round pick for Sam Presti -- traded the stars for picks, builds a roster through the lottery like Jim Buss |

No coach worth a draft pick is coming here for anything less than a 4-year deal, and there's no way Jeanie just eats that and fires them after one year. And that's perhaps why you can rest easy a trade wouldn't happen.
And trading the stars is what you've been clamoring for. |
