Chiney Ogwukime made a good point, Lakers with all that talent can’t be this bad unless there’s some locker room issues and that the best thing they can do is a small trade for someone who can bring stability in the locker room.
Problem is, we had that, but traded him away.
Rajon Rondo.
Rondo was signed last summer as that locker room leader and even as an acting player’s coach, according to Vogel himself.
Before Rondo was traded, LA was 20-19.
After Rondo was traded, Lakers are now a miserable 6-11. _________________

Schedule was a part of that but chemistry is clearly an issue... and it was a big reason we won in 2020. But when you trade all your chemistry guys like Rondo, McGee, Dudley, Caruso, etc and bring in sassy divas like WB instead, this is what happens.
Rondo was the leader of this team IMO. LeBron is the backbone and vocal leader but Rondo was the one guy who had as big if not a bigger voice than Bron.
Without Nunn we have no actual backup 1. So that didn't help for sure. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

we have a veteran lockeroom. thats not our problem. It just doesn't look like guys want to play
If guys don’t look like they want to play, then it is a locker room problem.
that's on Bron and AD. Is he a leader or not?
There’s a difference between leader of a team and locker room leaders aka Rondo, Dudley, hell even Shaq and Kobe championship years had Ron Harper, Rick Fox, Brian Shaw as locker room leaders, then Derek Fisher became the locker room leader during Kobe / Pau era. _________________

this isn't a bunch of kids. This is a veteran heavy team.
So? Just because you’re older you’re automatically assumed to be a leader? Dennis Rodman was sure a good leader when we signed him then. Lol. _________________
Losing Rondo and Caruso really hurt the team. Letting Javale McGee walk was not smart either.
Absolutely terrible management looking back at the last few years: letting Randle walk with no trade or value, Caruso walking with no trade or value, trading Zubac for Mike Muscala, etc.
Just from a pure asset management perspective, it's an undeniable disaster.

Ownership too cheap to pay Rondo, so they traded him for nothing. Even after it became clear during last season that he had pretty much been an offensive assistant coach during the championship run. Garbage ownership. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
In that 20-19 start, they lost to the Thunder (twice), Timberwolves (twice), Kings, Knicks, Spurs, as well as teams who were missing Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Zach Lavine, Nikola Vucevic, Jaylen Brown, Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes, Anthony Edwards, etc. A bunch of these losses were at home. A bunch of those teams were on back to back. The schedule has been ridiculously easy and they’ve been disappointing all season.
Locker room issues have very little to do with this team. When you have guys:
Howard, Bazemore, Jordan, Anthony, on their last legs
Johnson and Reaves, one being out of the league for awhile, and the other at the most a late first or early second round pick,
James- being 37 can't carry the load like he once did
Davis- who needs a kick in the pants from time to time
Horton-Tucker- not worth the contract he currently has
Westbrook- turnovers, turnovers, turnovers, no jump shot, no jump shot, no jump shot, no defense, no defense, no defense
Those guys make up most of your roster. You have guys who can play defense, but can't shoot. Then you have guys who can shoot, but need to work on their defense.
Not one of them has a rep as locker room cancers. The issues we have are because of poor roster construction.
The team has trust issues. Everyone is on edge and looking for where to point the finger on every play rather than trying to figure out how to lift each other up.

Lebron regularly quits on defense, doesn’t hustle back, doesn’t box out, or just gets beat. If we see it, no doubt his teammates know it. How is that type of leadership supposed to motivate others?

One guy can only do so much. All stars take plays off on the defensive end, however I will say I am so mad watching this team complain about calls to the refs when the other team is heading up court.
