Yeah I really like the potential of AD/Bron/Stanley defensively, but the issue is spacing. WB needs an open paint, and Bron is also most effective when he has a mismatch with an open paint to post up or drive on is man.
But AD's 3 pointer is MIA and we need a knockdown 3 point shooter next to them. Stanley's length and mobility is huge on D, but it will be negated on offense unless he continues to be solid from outside.
It's why I wouldn't argue with a trade for Grant, he's not a great shooter, but he is a threat, and with the amount of open looks he would get next to AD/Bron, would be interesting.

Grant is injured, and has been injured. He's also shooting 33% from three thus far this year.
I think if Johnson can continue to hit his three at a semi decent clip (not asking for 39% or anything, as 33% would be fine imo). Then he's invaluable for defenses can't afford to leave him open.
The benefit is that even if his three wasn't falling on a given night, he's bringing it on the defensive end and that seems to always be there for him.
Very much what exactly what we need to maximize the kind of defense Vogel wants us to have.
He’s gonna become our Ron Artest
He has quick hands and moves his feet well like Artest but he‘s not as mean as Ron Ron.
But he‘s playing a similar style
Ron is asking for too much, but the clay is there. The base, the strength, quick hands. He's a good athlete, NBA body. Has strong post base. Doesn't get pushed off easily by his man on defensive penetration coverages.
I really want to see Stanley keep moving off the ball and finding the rim on those cuts and be fearless on the open 3 pointer. If he does that, he's a 2-way guy and can log minutes next to Melo in small ball situations, OR potentially start next to AD/Bron up front. I'd like to see a lineup of AD, Bron, Stanley, Reaves, Bradley. That's a lot of players that will not let you score easily, and can play shut down defense.
Stanley was doing a hell of a job on Harden. Had him locked up a few times. With good coaching and work ethic it sure seems like he can be a great defender.

Their 10 days is up today right? Can the Lakers sign them to a second 10 day contract?
I don’t believe that they can use 10-day contracts until January 5. They don’t have enough players on the COVID list to have replacement players. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
Why the (bleep) isn't Collison getting any play time? We seriously gave IT more of a chance lol. Stop (bleep) playing him with WB ffs let him run the second unit.

Can any team just pick him up?... Or does he have the option to turn teams down, if Lakers plan to sign him another 10 day contract?
Any team with a roster spot open can sign him but he has to agree, he is a FA. I think that OKC is the only team with cap space who could offer more than the minimum but I’m not sure if they have a roster spot. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

This is going to massively blow up in Jeanie’s face if they lose tomorrow and it’s because zero defense on someone like Barnes or whoever Johnson’s assignment would be…
Stanley has been starting recently, are they really waiting to sign him? We are going to play a very big kings team tomorrow, so I hope they do it before that.

There's mutual interest between Stanley Johnson and the Lakers to have him rejoin the team, league sources told ESPN. LAL has three options to have him come back: Sign him outright; sign for a 10-day contract then retain; sign him for two consecutive 10-days, then retain.
Non hardship exemption 10-day contracts cannot be given out, per league rules, until Jan. 5. So Johnson cannot be with the Lakers on Tuesday against SAC. Also, Johnson's previous hardship 10-day contract does not count against him still signing up to two more 10-days with LAL

I don’t mind a couple of 10-day contracts, it’s a bigger sample size to see what he is. He has obviously had problems sticking in the league. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

How much can they make if hired on for the rest of the season?
I think it would really take a lot of mental deficiency to screw up now and miss playing with LeBron AD Westbrook et al and if he fails them they will let people know
We need this guy.. strength intelligence motivation size... oh and he is 25 years old
but maybe we have some Center sized player on our radar who might get bought out?
I don't think we will even talk about trading Russ... as stupid as it sounds not to entertain it But - it would look bad on our team and scouting etc imho.. *unless he knows if X player becomes available The Lakers must pick him and try to use Russ in the trade

While growing up in Fullerton, Calif., Stanley Johnson only had a few channels on his TV. The limited programming included Lakers games, causing the hoops-obsessed prodigy from Southern California to develop an affinity with the purple and gold.
“When I would think about playing basketball in the NBA, I’d always view myself in a Laker jersey,” Johnson told The Athletic on Thursday.
