tht is ~equally talented as bi, but has a more assertive personality as needed in la
he is probably more talented than all of the other young core guys
his talent manifested early unlike the other young core players that had trouble handling the pressure and improving their game
he has the defensive upside like ball and caruso
his 3p% is now 40% with extremely small numbers and confidently takes shots
he has good bb-iq unlike randle, kuz and dlo
his ability to drive is better than any of the young core players
his ability to rebound is now becoming apparent
reaves is a nice player who could be a starter if 3p% improves, but he does not have the offensive upside
it should take a huge asset for lakers to be willing to trade him. |

It looks like they made a smart decision to keep him over Alex Caruso

I like what we've seen from THT in the last few games, but seriously, let's not put him in the Hall of Fame just yet. He's had some good runs of games before, albeit with less minutes. It looks like the coaching staff made the right call on THT, so turning down the Lowry trade looks a lot better now. He needs to be consistent, which is not something he has managed up to this point in his young career. But damn, it's looking good. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

They all put up numbers in losing situations. The only one who has been dominant on an improving team has been Randle. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I'm tired of this this the chose THT over AC narrative. That was never the case. Sure, if you told me you could only have one, I'd say THT.
But they had the opportunity to bring back THT, use AC's bird rights to re-sign him, and then use the mini MLE -- which would have been the smart move.
Hopefully Nunn comes in and balls as back up PG but I'm definitely liking what I see for Talen. He's ready for a huge role on this team. |

It's a small number of games, but he's played great so far. |

I would put it differently. It didn't need to come down to THT vs. Caruso. We could have kept both of them. But the extra salary from the Westbrook trade plus the luxury tax constraints dictated that we could keep only one of them. The front office prioritized THT, and they may be vindicated in the end. But really, Caruso was a casualty of the Westbrook trade. The price we paid for Westbrook includes losing Caruso. _________________ Internet Argument Resolved |

Losing AC was 100% a result of the Westbrook trade, not keeping THT.
Keeping THT was a great decision.
Letting Alex walk due to WB's salary was .... problematic at best. |

I don't think any of the young guys the Lakers had were HOF level/#1 guys on championship team type of difference makers IE Lebron/AD. IE Steph/Durant.
It's too early on THT to even label him as good a talent as Ingram, but he is showing that 3rd year breakout. He seems at least as good as DLO, to me. Overall. But again, still early.
Point is, even THT. If I could get a HOF talent in prime, I pack his bags. I love the kid, and I loved Carushow more than any other Laker, maybe. However in the end, when you can get HOF talent in their athletic prime, you do it.
The luxury we have had with THT. He's been able to improve and develop without needing to lose games. Now he's ready to be an impact guy (Not saying he's a star, just he's way better than Bazemore/and ready to start) on a playoff level team. This is because we now have stars and franchise players that the team is built around that can keep the teams competitive and give them a chance in the playoffs. We never had that with the previous young guys, no matter how many amazing lineups some dream about.
To me that's what makes Kobe extra special. He was a young raw kid who came into a winning situation. He had to earn his stripes and minutes. It made him an even better player, IMO. However, losing for a talent like Kobe to develop is one thing. Losing for the guys we had before? Or even losing for THT to develop? No matter what way some slice it, that's not the Lakers way. Making the playoffs should be a goal every season, and winning a championship should not be completely out of the equation. |

Out of all of the YUTES, Jules is the one I most sad about. We literally lost him for nothing, and he reached All NBA levels.
At least with BI/Lonzo we got AD. But to just let Jules walk for nothing, SMH. |

Many of us did not like it when it happened....but I do not think anyone on this board projected Randle to become the player he is today.
In regards to THT...I always approved of the Lakers keeping him out of the potential Lowry/other trades. If this team has any chance at not falling into a long period of mediocrity post Lebron, it was critical to have a young player to pair with AD. |

But I don't think he would've developed like this if hadn't changed teams. |
