Especially since Kyrie Irving has suspended himself.
Westbrook has negative impact on a winning team.
Anyone who can’t see that hasn’t follow his game, and just reading stats.
His game is too one dimensional and ball dominant, he sucks at off ball.
And he has low self awareness and low bb IQ.
The dude has talent, but at his age and his skill set, it just doesn’t fit on a championship aspiration team in this day and age.
We need exactly what Buddy Hield provide.
Which is a knock down shooter that create space for Lebron and Davis.
Buddy Hield is shooting at a clip of Klay Thompson right now.
Westbrook manage to not get past first round after Durant left.
And had the Thunder kept Harden and traded Westbrook, they probably already won a championship.
A prime Durant couldn’t even play with him at his prime.
We were all wishing Westbrook is more mature now and can play sidekick to Lebron and Davis.
But that’s not even his game, the dude is lost out there on the basketball court if he is not going at 1000% speed.
Washington traded John Wall (who is pretty much useless) for westbrick, yet we gave up our championship piece for him. (We could have Buddy Hield)
Pelinka failed.
And Lebron being the Goat, is just a crappy GM, which follows the footstep of MJ.
But it is clearly GM fault for listening 100% to Lebron on this.

I have a theory that Westbrook was always the weakest link among the original OKC trio of Durant, Harden, and Westbrook. They should have traded Westbrook for a big and kept Harden. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Durant and Harden win a title in OKC for sure. They’ll probably win a title this year and they’re both past their physical prime. _________________ If Brandon Knight were to come out, I would take him number 1 in the draft. - Magic Johnson Mar 27, 2011

Hield is more one dimensional. He's a shooter and if his shot isn't falling he's pretty much useless. So many players that shot well on other teams have come to the Lakers and something about the bright lights and the big city and the pressure has resulted in a decline in their shooting abilities. I don't think Hield wins a championship.

They should have let Ibaka go. Picking Ibaka over Harden was the mistake.
We can't give up on Russ yet... but if he isn't able to assert his will physically anymore then we squandered a huge opportunity to go with those three.
He has the heart and the right mentality... but it remains to be seen if he hasn't lost a step.
You can tell LBJ is moving like he's older but he's compensating for it by improving his shooting and skills.
If Russ is starting to decline physically then he's of little use to anyone, unless he too can improve his shooting.
That's why it's good to have great basketball minds like Jerry in the organization to go to for advice in situation like this. Westbrick is very similar to DS. So if DS couldn't work out, why would Westbrick? We've already tried everything with DS but to no avail. Westbrick had tried to fit in alongside Harden but also to no avail.
No idea what this FO was thinking when they traded for Westbrock. I think going for Westbrick instead of Hield would go down as one of the greatest blunders from the Lakers if they fail to win the chip with a fully healthy AD and Lebron.
Yes, this team would be absolute beast with Hield in place of Westbrick because when we won #17, we had Green who was having a bad year in place of WB. Two superstars in the starting lineup with perfectly fit roleplayers seem to be the key to success. Yet somehow we deviated from that. Everyone just wanted more and more star power on the team. Westbrick and Melo? Who the hell was in charge? Idiots!! _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024

I see what you are trying to say that that DS and Westbrook might be somewhat similar players but Westbrook is also immensely more talented than DS.
Hield is a nice role player but in comparison someone like Danny Green always brought the ability to defend when his shot was off. Hield can only shoot and occasionally drive to the rim when you run at him, but he needs to be shooting well. If his shot becomes less effective like so many other players that have come to the Lakers he becomes a liability. We want players that are multi-skilled and can contribute in more than one way. Westbrook and Green do/did that. Hield not so much.
I don't think Melo was brought in for star power. He's a role playing scoring boost off the bench more geared towards playing with the second team and he does a good job of that.

or they should have just paid Harden an extra 3 million and run it back and won the Championship and been Golden State before Golden State was Golden State. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Hield wasn't what we needed, we needed a two way wing with some size.
Someone in the Otto Porter Jr mold (but ideally better, more athletic shot creator) type of guy who could start on the wing.
We won a title with Lebron at PG and keep going away from it. Let him do what he does best and surround him with guys who can shoot and defend.
Your reducing his load by having other shot creators out there, doesn't have to be a PG.
My thoughts exactly. They strayed away from their bread & butter. Bron at point/AD at the 5 + three 3&D players was our starting 5 in the FINALS. Now it's WB at point with BRON/AD/DJ + one 3&D player.

Well, it seems Westbrook doesn't wanna ever work on his shot and the technical aspect of his game. He relies too heavily on speed and athleticism. He's 32, still with no shot and making bone head plays.
Guys Harden is a better player than Westbrook but winning a title with just those 2 as in Harden and Durant???? Point me a year and I will say the champion who won would have beaten a Durant, Harden, Ibaka team. Now if Harden had championship intangibles, I would agree that Harden would have definitely given them a better shot but that guy is a bonafide weak-minded choker the tighter the game and the best series he was a part of, the comeback against the Clippers, they made the run with him on the bench in Game 6 because he was stinking it up as usual and mentally checked out. You really think a beta male like KD and a choker like Harden will lead a team to the title???? No way in hell and that goes for this year as well. Their title hopes rest on Kyrie being all in

Buddy is not just a shooter. You don't average 21ppg in one NBA season as a one-dimensional shooter. Buddy's spike skill is shooting, but his offensive game is far more refined than just shooting.
The Lakers would be far away the favorite with Buddy. The team has not had a legit 3rd option to pair with AD/Lebron and Buddy is pretty much the perfect 3rd option. He would be the best player Lebron/AD have played with since joining the Lakers.
He would also make Lebron/AD better. Lebron is great without spacing. Imagine how he would do with spacing?
Kuzma for Buddy was an absolute steal for the Lakers.
This team is winning it all:
KCP / Nunn / Rondo
Buddy / AC / THT
Lebron / Ariza
AD / Melo
Howard

A killer 3 point shooter was definitely one of our biggest needs... someone who shoots high % on high volume 3s off screens and such. Lebron has feasted on having such players like Mike Miller, Ray Allen, Kyle Korver. And Hield isnt just a 3 point specialist, he is a scorer too where his 19ppg in the last 3 seasons will make him a very good #3 option for the team. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi
Totally theoretical but I think Buddy doesn't help pull as many ring chasers. I wanted Buddy but even Vogel may not be able to help hide him. Then the drama is Vogel only playing him 24mpg and sitting him to close in favor of the few 3&D guys we have.
Some people talk about Buddy Hield like he is the second coming of Jesus Christ.
He is not all that.....
Good player? Sure.....but not the savior...
It's mostly frustration. When the Lakers are struggling, it's easy to declare that some alternative reality, which can never be tested, would have been unquestionably successful.

He's a much better fit to the Lakers offense which is a heavy dose of Lebron. Westbrick can't stretch the floor like Hield can. WB needs the ball to be effective but the Lakers need the ball in Lebron's hands in order to dominate.
We've had this issue with DS last year and couldn't solve it. Now, we're doing same thing with Westbrick expecting a different result. Insane? No. Stupid? Yes. _________________ Playoffs is good enough. - Jeanie Buss 2024

Caruso ballin AF for the Bulls. Looks like he's being used as a PG. Would love to have him and Hield instead of what we have now.
I was never a fan of Lonzo Ball but he's looking pretty good too: not playing out of control, playing good D and hitting outside shots better than when he was w/ Lakers.
