Can Muncy play some other positions? Anyway, I guess we'll use him for 1B on days when Muncy rests, and will use him to pinch hit. |

Steve Ballmer: Wow, I just realized, I'm actually paying Markieff Morris's salary for our cross-town rival. How stupid am I?

I assume Pujols won't play much against righties, unless there are injuries. Against lefties, perhaps he'll get starts at 1st and Muncy can play 2nd, if they want to sit Lux. Lux has been hitting better lately, at least. There is also the option of giving Turner an occasional day off and Muncy can play 3rd, with Pujols at 1st. And if he's up to it, he's likely to be a better late-inning PH option as opposed to some of the guys we've been using. We also seem to value veteran leadership in the clubhouse (Thome, Utley, Freese, etc), so that is a fit too.
As long as he doesn't gripe about playing time and as long as Doc doesn't give him too many starts, especially against righties, it could work out fine. It's a low-risk move, it's not like we're paying him anything but the minimum. |

I think it’s a good move. Random PH spots..veteran leadership...that’s all I want from him. Feel like he can really teach our guys something. This is definitely an Utley/Freese type move. |

Was thinking the same thing. Low risk high reward move. If we make it to the WS he certainly can contribute as a DH in away games too. But I think a new voice in the locker room that happens to be a champion and living legend can help us stay focused and avoid stretches like the one we just went through. |

Perhaps if it's a lefty starter. He shouldn't be getting AB's against righties. Major liability there. |

Is there room on the 40 man and active roster for him (come playoff time)? I know there’s room now due to injuries but at some point, those guys will be coming back?
These are the players we currently have on the IL (that have a chance to come back this year:
Pitchers
1) Scott Alexander
2) Caleb Ferguson (maybe?)
3) Graterol
4) Gonsolin
5) Price
6) Knebel
Position Players
7) Bellinger
8) McKinstry
9) Pollock |

Pujols is just a good veteran presence. DH filler and 1B if we need him.
Otherwise, great RH pinch hitter that's seen it all and has come up big in the clutch.
For $400k, heck yeah. |

Yeah, that didn't look or sound good.
In other news, the Dodgers made a trade for the Rays' Tsutsugo, an infielder who never really took off for them. |

Giants lost. Win tonight and we are 1 game back:
Giants: 23-16
Padres: 23-17
Dodgers: 22-17
Starting to slowly right this ship. Bellinger and McKinstry coming back soon.
We’ve got 7 games vs the Giants and 4 games vs Arizona after this Miami series.
Pretty important stretch coming up. |

I fear we are going to be without Seager for a while. Perhaps quite a while. Need to get lucky, as it didn't look good. |

No, so if there's some consolation, I guess it's that it wasn't the wrist. Looked like the top of the hand. So you're worried about broken bones, but those usually heal better than a wrist would. That stuff can linger. If it's a bone, those usually heal normally unless you're talking about an ugly fracture.
Peters actually hit a ball hard! Progress.
Kelly looked good too in finishing up for the 9th inning. It would be nice if he could actually be relied upon as a late inning option in the final year of his deal. We aren't there yet, but his stuff looked good to me. Hit 98 with a pitch and I thought his breaking stuff was moving well, as was his fastball. Just needs to throw strikes and get ahead. |

Dave Roberts said Corey Seager is still in pain and is dealing with swelling. #Dodgers will take an exam of his right hand.

Bauer's ERA down to 2.20 after 7 shutout innings where he only allowed 2 baserunners. He has 77 K's, just 14 walks, and is sporting a 0.75 WHIP. Dude competes his tail off every time he takes the ball. He's pitching for a new contract basically every year. I really like what he brings to the club. |

He brings a certain nasty. Im still not completely sold on him as a playoff big game pitcher though. He strikes me more as a Carlos Zambrano than a Curt Schilling/Madison Bumgarner |

Well, he has an ERA of under 3 in the postseason in his career, buoyed by 7.2 shutout innings (with 12 K's and just 2 baserunners allowed) last year in the do-or-die wild card game against Atlanta. The Reds just couldn't score, for the entire game, against Atlanta pitching.
It appears to me like he's solidified himself as one of the best pitchers in baseball. He's been dominant in 3 of the last 4 years in which he's taken the mound. You take your chances with a guy like that. |

Yep win some while losing someone. Now Corey out we will miss the bat but can shore up the defense. Lux or CT3 to SS, Muncy and Nuese as well as Barnes will cover second. Albert and Beaty can handle first.

He has been everything I hoped he would be. I used to be curious when he took the mound, now I trust him and feel confident.
Edit: And the team has needed more starters that can go deep into a game. Especially this year. |
