Grizzlies probably don’t play anyone tonight since it’s meaningless.
Tomorrow’s game against GS decides 8/9 no matter what the Grizzlies game outcome is tonight. |

worst case scenario for the Lakers is losing the first PI game and then facing GS in the due or die game. |

I like the Lakers chances better in one game against Steph vs. 7 games against the Clippers. |

Not as bad as it looks. If we lose the PI game vs. the Warriors, we'd be fired up to beat the winner of the Spurs/Grizz game for the 8th seed.
At that point we'd then have...
... the Jazz in the first round (beatable)
... then the winner of the Nuggets/Mavs series in the second round (beatable)
... and then the WCF would be the Suns/Clippers/Warriors/TBlazers.
Not too bad at all. What would be far worse is if the Grizz beats the Warriors on Sunday, we then lose to the Grizz in the first PI game somehow and have to face GSW in the second play in game. |

That's not what's being hypothesized. SGV is saying if Memphis slides past GS we play Memphis in the play in. If we lose that game, we would most likely have to face GS in a do or die game. |

Clips sitting KL, PG, etc today is great news.
Ideal situation if Clips lose @Rox.
1. Suns locked into 2nd seed.
2. If Denver wins today, they would be tied with the Clips and face the following choice:
Beat the Blazers and get the Lakers in round 1, or rest their starters to let the Blazers win, setting LAL up for PHX in the first round.
If the Clips tank the game against OKC also, even if Denver loses to PDX, they’d still be the 3 seed, so the Lakers would get the Denver/PDX winner in round 2.
WCF vs Clips/Dallas/Utah. That would be an ideal bracket for LA. Two series to warm up and get chemistry right for WCF. |

I’m not worried about play-in game.
Lakers will crush any of the other play-in teams. |

I'll be a little worried if they decide to sit out Lebron/AD/Schro the last 2 games... Then you have to worry about rust and chemistry issue. |

LOL Clips literally playing a Scrubb to avoid the 3rd seed and can clinch the 4th seed by taking a dive the last game. Denver could still purposely tank the Portland game though to prevent us from moving up to #6. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

If they do that, are they in the other bracket so we don’t face them until the WCF?
I’m honestly surprised they ducked us, I would bet Ballmer sent the msg down that the risk of losing in the first round was not good for the keeping Kawhi business |

I can easily imagine that being the case.
However, they also run the risk of doing another choke job in either of the 1st two rounds before facing the Lakers yet again. Which would look even worse than losing to the Lakers in the first round.
Now the dream is the Nuggets winning against Portland on Sunday. _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

I love the narrative going around how clippers trying to avoid lakers. I’m sure that won’t motivate the team they play in first round assuming it’s not lakers |

I literally have lost the ability to keep track anymore.
Per Trudell
Clippers just assured that they can’t face the Lakers in Round 1. If they lose their final game (at OKC), they are the 4. If they win and DEN loses at POR, LAC are the 3, and LAL are in the play-in going for No. 7 w/POR the 6 at worst. If DEN wins at POR, DEN is the 3.

The impetus to tank is probably also coming from Frank, Ty Lue, etc- people who don’t want to get fired by Balmer after a loss to the Lakers in round one.
It’s smart on the their part from a job preservation pov.
If they lose to the Lakers in first round, no one will be safe- especially if KL leaves as a result and went to the Knicks or Heat.
By tanking their way into the other bracket with another loss, they set themselves up to reach the WCF...........................
WHICH THEY HAVE NEVER REACHED BEFORE!!!
So when they lose to LAL in the WCF, they can still tell Balmer they’re making real progress and have gone further than ever, justifying why they shouldn’t get fired. |

When I saw the schedule, with Denver having an earlier game, I had a feeling they might tank this game, as it now allows them to control their own destiny.
By losing again at OKC, they would have an easy road to the WCF.
It makes me happy, as I’d prefer to face them as late as possible to give the Lakers as much time as they can get to build up their chemistry. |

Are we sure that even the clippers super scrubb players would even be able to lose vs the thunder. The thunder are much worse than the rockets. |

Does Vogel play Lebron/AD/Schro or Lebron/Schro tomorrow?

Assuming we get healthier as the games go on wouldn’t now be the time to play us? |

Before LBJ came here. I was convinced he did something similar in 2017. Tanked the last 4 games of the season to avoid the Bulls/get the Pacers.
But now that he's one of us. I've changed my mind. He's innocent on all charges. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

OKC isn’t going to risk falling out of the 3rd spot in the draft by winning a meaningless game. They have been tanking hard. |

Last season it was the Nuggets and Rockets trying to out-tank each other to avoid the Clippers in the 2nd round. They wanted to face the Lakers instead. Lakers ended up beating both of them.
Maybe it works out for the Clippers. They could probably use more time to get Ibaka healthy before a showdown with the Lakers. Or maybe you lose to the Jazz in the 2nd round anyways. And avoid the Lakers by losing in the 2nd round again. |
