Definitely. This is something I noticed last season as well. I remember thinking to myself, "great another coach with crappy rotations."
I think there's a method to his madness as seen by his rotations in the Playoffs. It's like he's deliberately experimenting with every type of lineup in every type of situation. I read somewhere that he is big on analytics and leverages this data in the Playoffs.
I expect him to have the right guys out there when the real season starts. |
I prefer a big picture type of coach on a contender team than micromanage everything in regular season. Losing games in regular season is tolerable as long as you develop a team that can click in every cylinder when it matters. I think Vogel already know what he can get from Caruso so he is digging on others like Matthews and THT if he can be part of our playoff rotation. |

Yeah, I let a lot of the small rotation frustrations during this season go with the assumption he's going to go to that next level of coaching once the Playoffs begin like he did last season.
He outcoached the other side by a pretty wide margin all throughout the entire WC Playoffs and went toe to toe with Spoelstra in the Finals. |

We really missed our best perimeter defender in a game like today. Hope he is right for the next game |

Defense just looks better with him out there. He's a floor general in that aspect. He was in on that last play with the tip out of the block. |

Can’t wait to see our full squad together. Imagine going up against Dennis/AC as a PG every night having them hound you all night long. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Am I jumping the gun on the smallest of sample but is AC starter material when there’s a defense sucking star in the line up? |

Seems like if caruso continues his growth as a player that he may be the best replacement for Dennis next year. |

I'll stay positive and hope AC resigns with us this off season. Heck, lebron would cut him a personal check. Lol! |

Impressed with his composure as of late. Doesn't seem to get rattled easily.
Valuable experience for our back up PG. Moves laterally on the defensive end as good as anyone IMO. Bald Eagle showing out!
THT play has been erratic as of late. He's committing some really foolish turnovers. Makes me think that he may not be quite ready yet.
Will be interesting to see which one the team wants to keep in the offseason. |

He makes winning plays that other guards wouldn’t.
Perfect example was AC breaking up that lob to Ayton when it was an 8 point game and AD had just missed that layup lol. |

If the "worst case" scenario re: Dennis leaving is that AC has to step up to fill in that spot, I'm ok with that. Ideally we can keep both as I see both of them closing out games this year in the playoffs.
But AC, if he can stay healthy, is a good stopgap. Question is how much is his price. I've always liked AC. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

AC is starting to show some offensive flashes. Things are slowing down for him on that end.
He’s not only a screen assist guy anymore. He can play. |
