This signing doesn’t move the needle one bit. He’ll get as much PT as Cacock.
Can Lakers still sign another player even with a 10-day? _________________ |

It’s actually a good signing with lots of upside. He can run the floor, move his feet, block shots and catch alley oops. I hope they give him and chance cuz he’s exactly what we need on the defensive side. |

Question: does this signing count against the roster? Cause I know we have still have 2 roster spots to fill as long as this 10-day didn’t interfere with that. |

It's a 10 day contract to see if the kid can give us anything worthwhile. Get him in our own gym, test him out, and see what's there. He either expires in 10 days and we let him go or we sign him to another 2nd 10 day if he's intriguing.
I like Rob sees the weakness we all see and is looking to fix that without committing straight away to someone who might disappoint. |

10 days. Gets us to the break on a band aide. This is a good move with low risk, plus keeps our options open for potential buyout .
I won't pretend I know a thing about his game but he looks like a mcgee-light option.
Lob threat and long athletic type to put up more resistance at the defensive end. It's a balance to Gasol.
Vogel better not play him and Trez together....
That will be UGLY |

I'm confused what the point is of a D-league farm. LOL! Shouldn't you load up the farm with guys who you can use as band-aid during a season? |

He is 6'11 with a 7'4 wingspan(same wingspan as Harrell)
I wanted the Lakers to draft him back when he was a pick.
Saw him as an athletic big that could be vital in our pick and roll.
This was at the time when we had Russell, Clarkson, Ingram, Randle and I thought that as a young center he'd be a good get. He was also a running mate of Randle's so I saw a lot of potential in their chemistry.
He hasn't panned out in the NBA thus far, he's 25 and he's at that age where if he doesn't figure it out now, he likely won't.
His best seasons were his 3rd in Golden State (5.4 PPG 3.1 REB 1.2 AST 1.0 BLK in 17.1 MPG off the bench) and his 4th in ATL (5.6 PPG 3.7 REB 0.7 BLK in 16.1).
He did nothing in PHX and he's likely on his last opportunity here with the Lakers before he becomes a G-League staple.
So temper expectations, he isn't better than Gasol or Harrell, but he will be that 'athletic big body just in case' that people seemed to want. If he winds up sticking around past his 10 day contract that will be a good enough sign. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

That's not really the point of the d league.
Unless a d-league player is on an NBA team's roster, no team has anymore rights to that player than any other team. It's not a place where you can stash extra players.
And, of course, a lot of the vets you might want to sign as emergency backups have no interest in playing in the d league. |

The plan is probably to stitch together two 10-day contracts, which will expire right after the trade deadline.
At that point, the Lakers can see if anyone gets bought out. |
