How does that work anyway? Is weed still banned from the NBA? |
Come across numerous ex-athletes in my profession. They say it's easy to beat marijuana tests if you're careful and that if you fail one it's because "you stopped caring." |
I get that in some sports....for example, in MLB they are only tested if there is probable cause.....in the NFL, unless you are on probation for getting caught, the only time they test is once in the offseason. It is not even on the banned substance list in the NHL.
In regards to the NBA, I am surprised more players are not caught....or maybe they are and we do not know about it? I say that because they are subject to 4 random tests during season....and 2 in the offseason. |

You actually have to fail 3 marijuana tests in the NBA just to get suspended. The first two are a treatment program referral and then a fine. And while there's zero tolerance policy on steroids (can't have any in your system), with marijuana there's a certain level you can have that's ostensibly consistent with what you might have if you were say, at a party inhaling 2nd-hand smoke. You can dilute your urine with enough water to get the marijuana to this point. But most guys will quit after the first two strikes just to stay on the safe side. The whizzinator is still very popular amongst athletes who are afraid of failing a test. |

Kobe critical of Shaq's leadership
Oct 28, 2003
ESPN.com news services
I just looked up my favorite Kobe article today.. For nostalgias sake
Quote: | The transcript of Kobe Bryant's interview with ESPN's Jim Gray:
GRAY: What was your reaction to Shaq saying the Lakers are his team, and everybody knows it?
BRYANT: It doesn't matter whose team it is. Nobody cares. I don't, Karl [Malone] doesn't, Gary [Payton] doesn't, and our teammates and the fans don't either. There's more to life than whose team this is. But this is his team, so it's time for him to act like it. That means no more coming into camp fat and out of shape, when your team is relying on your leadership on and off the court. It also means no more blaming others for our team's failure, or blaming staff members for not overdramatizing your injuries so that you avoid blame for your lack of conditioning. Also, "my team" doesn't mean only when we win; it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.
GRAY: Do you consider Shaq to be a leader? |
fwiw.. Jordan destroyed poor Kwame..

I think Bennet (and maybe Fultz) has saved Kwane from this distinction |

Well stated. Marijuana laws are starting to change, one state at a time. I believe it will be taken off Schedule 1 in due time, possibly next Administration.
As for prioritizing military spending over medical care, the dickish minority in this country has an out-sized voice, let's hope that changes as well. |

Weed should be regulated just like alcohol
Legalization of weed present 2 problems, it will decrease the volume of prison populations which will affect for profit private prisons and it will decrease the volume of opiate/anti-anxiety/other meds use which will effect the pharmaceutical industry |

Lol, there are things called laws. They are not all correct In my opinion either, but as a citizen it is your duty to understand them and follow them.
If this country and it’s laws are not to your liking
1) overthrow the government and install your own
2) vote and hope things change over a long period of time
3) Leave
If socialism is your thing, pick #3 and move...despite all of the noise from the left wing most Americans aren’t with you. I’m a proud American and Kwame broke a law, sorry if you aren’t proud of our country and what it’s afforded you. Nobody is forcing you to stay. |
Wrong. If 'socialism' is your thing, vote. If that means we spend significantly per capita less on better health care that is more affordable and available to all, like it's done in much of the rest of the industrialized world, I'm all for it. I'm proud of my country too. The vast majority of Americans consider health care a right, not a privilege, just to address another falsehood in your response. |

I’m certain you are a smart person with good judgement, seriously. Unfortunately the masses aren’t able to self govern. If everybody just did what made sense to them, we’d be in a world of sh*t. Hence the need for government.
I live in LA, like most of us here and I vehemently disagree with most of California’s policies. I don’t have the means to overthrow the government, I’ve given up on voting...so I’m going to leave in the near future. See how that works?
Instead of sitting in the corner like a child whining that mom and dad aren’t fair, I move on. THAT is what America is based on, self determinism. Imagine if our founding fathers never left England and instead sat around England complaining about how bad England was lol.
I support thinking for yourself, whining about the state of things isn’t thinking. |

I sported a Kwame icon for 3 years on this site. This disappoints me, but the system is very much biased and broken.
FYI, one of the reasons the "war or drugs" still exists is because pharmaceutical companies spend millions lobbying against legalization: https://internationalhighlife.com/top-5-lobby-groups-legal-cannabis/
They simply do not want ill and diseased people having other avenues of treatment. It would cut into their profits. It should scare people that they can manipulate the laws and politicians to their favor. |

I don't think Anthony Bennet or Markelle Fultz were expected to be as great as Kwame was expected to be.
I may be wrong, but I remember people saying that Kwame was going to be the next Kobe or KG, or that he at least had the potential to be. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Imagine all the animals that would not need to be tortured by pharmaceutical companies
When I was a kid in the 70s they forced propaganda down our throats
Reefer Madness .. was a movie they showed me when I was in 5th grade.. not sure if my memory correct on when
Equating THC to PCP
Telling us about people on PCP killing their babies etc. And that marijuana is the greatest gateway drug of all

Trump supporter talking about rule of law, lol, now that's rich.
Bet you won't post that crap in the political thread where the non-hacks have actual discussions.
To add, your 35% of voters is not a "majority" and your president lost the popular vote by a wide margin. Care to know why your party just suffered one of the biggest congressional losses in history?
Here's a good place to start https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/06/23/opinion/trumps-lies.html
Cheers! |
Is this what they call TDS or Trump Derangement Syndrome? What difference does it make who he voted for so long as what he said is correct and logical... and why do you bring up Trump at all? I'd bet if FortySixn2 told you that the color red was in fact red, you'd say no... and proceed to make this same post talk about him being a Trump supporter while providing a link to a NYTimes article (of all places!) that has nothing to do with the color red, lol.
Btw, if the NYTimes is the kind of place you'd quote to validate your opinion, I wouldn't consider you a free thinker in the true and original sense of the word. Paradigms have shifted. The modern Left has more in common with the old Alt-Left, Communists, with third-world style corruption thrown in, and they now represent the Elites too (Wall Street, the Banks, Big Biz, Big Tech, Big Pharma, the political/business elites from other countries, etc) in ways you couldn't imagine because you appear unaware of who is pulling your puppet strings. The modern Right today has more in common with classical Liberal values and actually represents the interests of the common citizen. Who would have ever thought it possible? The opposite was true as recently 20 years ago. |

You just broke the law,
Specifically U.S. Code § 2385, which makes it illegal to "willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States."
I like irony. |
