I think it's fair to question the notion of whether trading away young talent for the hope of signing Lebron and George this summer as there's no guarantee they (or any other free agents) take our money, and even if you sign both you probably don't have enough to knock off the Warriors. That having been said, the front office is going ahead with this plan, and assuming the team has room to sign him next summer they would be foolish not to if the opportunity is there. |

Nope. Nope. Nope. Despite arguably being the best player in the league, I don't want LeMerc in the Purple and Gold.
Also, as other posters have stated, there's the issue of "fit", in terms of team chemistry. Wherever Lebron goes, the team HAS to conform to his playstyle, which usually involves LeBron driving and dishing/scoring. His iso ball play is counter to what Luke is trying to establish, which is ball/player movement. Not to mention that LeBron would stunt the growth of players, like Ball and BI.
There's also the specter of how LeBron may try to influence the FO, in Jeanie, Magic, and Pelinka. All those people are strong-minded, so I don't see them capitulating to LeBron, so does that create a situation like the one LeBron began to have with Pat Riley, right before he left?
Also, if LeBron's style doesn't mesh with Walton, how do they coexist? I highly doubt that at this stage in his career, that LeBron would change how he plays. In all honesty, while highly effective, LeBron's game is not highly adaptive, imo.

No, I think it's a bad idea long term to invest long term in someone that has proven they'll leave a team as soon as seen greener pastures. There'd also be the issue of Lebron trying to have the run of the organization and I don't believe Jeanie or Magic would let him get away with the things he's done in Cleveland.
There's also no guarantee that bringing in Lebron (even with another star or superstar) gets us another championship. Lebron is not the slam dunk sure thing people think he is and he's in decline. |

Only half the people who took the poll said yes!? Ya'll are trippin.
Although I'm not surprised. Through the years I've seen people argue against signing Aldridge, D. Jordan, and Derozan. And I'm sure if you made this same thread and replaced Lebron with Westbrook. The % of yes votes would be even lower.
LG is SOOOOOO picky. It's hilarious. Especially since we've been a bottom 5 team for nearly half a decade. |
Aldridge may not be the best example to make your case.
Anyway, give the rest of us some credit. There are legitimate reasons for not wanting the front office to sign Lebron. You know that. |
All those players (including Aldridge) would be the best player on our team right now (if they were here).
I think it would be a little more palatable if the poll was more specific. Like if it costs us X, Y, and Z. Do you want Lebron in P&G?
But the fact that it's just a general question. And over half of LG doesn't want a top 2 player in the league. When we can barely win 30 games right now. It's a headscratcher. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

LBJ is a professional and a team player regardless of what some think. He is not a bad guy.
If we sign LBJ and PG 13 plus we keep all of our assets ....Heck yeah! |

They just dumped Russell, somebody better come. If Lebron puts in another season similar to last year, HELL YES. As long as you don't do something stupid like sacrifice our young talent to bring his banana boat friends in. A mixture of two max guys with Lonzo and Ingram is perfect for now and the future. Just don't deal those two untouchables to appease Lebron. |

Alright
If LeBron signed for 4 seasons, next off-season.
2018-2019 Age 33
2019-2020 Age 34
2020-2021 Age 35
2021-2022 Age 36
We'd essentially have him from age 33 to age 37 _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

His b-day is in December, so he's 34 for the 18/19 season. |

Not wanting the best player of this generation is insanity. I think it's because us Lakers fans have been spoiled with Kobe and won't settle for anything less than another one in his prime. Reminds me of my buddy who hated Bynum simply because he wasn't Shaq. Lakers fans don't want LeBron because he isn't 25 year old Kobe. Meanwhile, we'll complain when we're still middle of the pack 3 years from now and when our precisious young talent don't project like we hoped. |

No. He had opportunities when he was younger. I don't want a 34-year old Lebron trying to leverage the city for the next phase of his career. Screw that. |

I think a lot of people under estimate how amazing GSW is even if 2 of the five in KD, Steph, Klatt, Iggy, and Nutcracker are injured let's say for a series hypothetical ... let alone when all five are healthy.
I officially put undecided but I will say this... if KCP and or Randle make a jump.... let's talk crazy and even say the Lakers make the playoffs. I don't want to lose guys still on the young side of 20... in order to help the development of space jam 2. _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? we have been one of the worst teams in the league for the last four years, and pretty much an embarrassment to the Lakers brand/legacy.....and 53% of the voters either do not want or are unsure if they would desire the best player on the planet to join the team.....geez. |

I don't think he's a bad guy, but he's definitely shown that he doesn't always handle things in a professional manner. The way he left Cleveland the first time and they way he left Miami showed that. |

From what I've seen. Lebron only signs 2 year deals with the second year being a player option. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Do you think a farewell tour is now the norm? There's only been two in the NBA I can recall in my lifetime, both equally sad and embarrassing. I can't see a player who just saw the last one saying: "yup, sign me up for that". |
Kobe's ended in a glorious spectacle though. |

Folks keep talking about GSW.
Damn it, I'd like to win a championship, but whatching a good team able to win games playing an exciting brand of basketball is much better than keeping the laughstock of the league status.
Developing Ingram and Ball under a winning culture is huge.
Some folks may question why we kept Logo and went after Wilt if we couldn't beat Boston back in the day. You put the best team you can together to compete and if the best player in the world is available you sign him, it is a no brainer. |

Man, we talking about signing a FREE AGENT LeBron. If he stays for 1 year and we compete for Championship then he bailed... so be it, we still has the cap space.
Now if you're against signing the best current player in the world (not yet KD) cause we might lose JC, Deng or Randle... ok, maybe Randle if he blows up but LeBron, in his current age, worth more than those 3 combined |

I don't think fit is an issue at all. Even Luke Walton needs a point of attack.
What'll be crazy is when he gets older, plays PF, and then is basically a different version of Draymond Green. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Yes, even if it's a 1+1 deal. If he wants to hold us hostage then I'd renounce his ass and go after one of the prime 2019 free agents (Klay, Butler, Kyrie, Kawhi). _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |
