By the same way Bill Walker has now became eligible for the 2007 draft, OJ Mayo may as well.

The Ohio high school athletic association has just cleared the way for Bill Walker to become a lottery pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.
Walker, best known as O.J. Mayo's teammate at North College Hill (Ohio) High -- but a legitimate NBA prospect on his own -- was declared ineligible for his senior season on Monday. Basically, the governing body of Ohio high school sports has determined that Walker already has played four years of varsity basketball since completing his eighth grade season.
That means Walker, a nomadic sort whose high school background is murky, has met the first half of the NBA's draft-eligible requirements for high school seniors -- which says that a high school senior can enter the draft if it has been a year since his original high school class graduated. The Ohio governing body is essentially stating that Walker's original high school class is the one that graduated in June 2006.
The second half of the NBA's draft requirement for Walker is crystal clear. The NBA cannot draft a player who isn't yet 19. Walker will be 19 -- and some media reports say he will be 20 -- in June 2007.
So what kind of player is Bill Walker? He's a 6-foot-6 trampoline, a Vince Carter-like athlete with an already solid NBA body. His perimeter skills need work, but athletically he is on par -- though a different kind of player -- with freaky former LSU forward Tyrus Thomas, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 draft.
If he chooses to enter the 2007 draft, Walker would become the first high school senior to be picked since the NBA changed its draft rules after the 2005 draft. No high school seniors entered the draft this year.

O.J. Mayo (2007): He's so good he was bored. I'm not one to penalize this kid for not pushing himself to play his best when he's matched against kids that just can't physically handle him. Besides, he's led his team to an undefeated record. Mayo is so explosive in the open court in relation to the other players on the floor that it doesn't even look real, and it's not like these other kids are slow. He looks like a damn cheetah chasing down an antelope. Everything you've heard about him is true: handles, effortless jump shot and incredible court vision. I know that there is supposed to be some debate as to who is #1 in the 2007, as many analysts have manufactured that conversation, putting Derrick Rose and Kevin Love on the same level as Mayo, but let's just cut the (bleep) right now: O.J. Mayo is without peer on the high school level. Period.

Bill Walker (2007): You may know him as O.J. Mayo's friend and high school teammate, but let me tell you something about Mr. Walker that you no doubt already know: THIS (bleep) CAN JUMP LIKE (bleep)!!!! DAMN!!! It's not even like he was doing crazy dunks or anything, but he gets off the floor so (bleep) fast that you'd swear he got rocket boosters for calves.

There was a report that O. J. Mayo is not committed to U.S.C., but they are on the short list. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

Read this part of the story:

They would be eligible to declare for the NBA draft right out of highschool. |

The Lakers are shooting for the #30 pick in that draft. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |

If that happens, there is little doubt that next year's will be the best ever if Oden goes. I think that Brandan Wright and Durant will go next year and I know that Thad Young will go next year unless there is an extreme circumstance. _________________ As I've said since Day 1, Bynum will be a bust and we should have drafted Gerald Green instead. |

I think we can safely assume that a #5 pick in next year's draft will be better than a #1 in this year's draft. A #10 will probably be better than a #3. I don't see any rookies this year being stars except maybe Morrison and Gay. _________________ As I've said since Day 1, Bynum will be a bust and we should have drafted Gerald Green instead. |

I can't say yet, but I don't see it topping 1984 at all. Even 03 was a monster. Maybe in 10 years, we'd be able to call it. |

The wording of the CBA is such that his eligibility is going to be fought by the NBA. The whole mention of high school and graduation in the CBA makes no mention of basketball eligibility or when someone started high school. Walker has said he plans to stay in school and graduate with the class of 2007. It's his senior year and 2007 is his graduating class. The graduation date is what's important and I don't believe the NBA is going to give in on this.
Quote: | at least one (1) NBA Season has elapsed since the player’s graduation from high school (or, if the player did not graduate from high school, since the graduation of the class with which the player would have graduated had he graduated from high school) |

Morrison can score in any league. However, I wonder if he might score 25ppg and allow 30ppg.
Foye and Roy should make some noise. _________________ "Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that." ~~Martin Luther King Jr.~~ |
