You have to know your opponent, there is no reason to double team on the inside against a team like Phoenix, you need to play them outside in. Almost the opposite of the mindset against most teams.

Whether they left them open "on purpose" or not is irrelevant. The bottom line is they were wide open and that is on the Lakers. Give the Suns credit for making the shots though, the NBA 3 is still a man's shot.

It looked to me like they were getting caught on defensive switches (Pau ending up on Nash). Nash did some early turkey carving on that Laker D, especially Fish. Maybe Blake would have helped...probably not. Phoenix was hot hot hot!

You make some good points.

I would have liked to see Phil mix it up a little better when it was obvious they were red hot....I think a 3-2 zone would have been helpful tonight to shut down the outside game and force the Suns to try and go inside (no Amare any more)

Yeah, 9 turns and no D is super efficient! I love Kobe but to blame Pau just because you gotta bromance for your boy is kinda sad, really.

Yeah, except, like, play defense or something.

Sometimes you just gotta tip your cap. They made everything tonight.

Tipping your hat to the 118 from Denver also?

It's just bad defense. Any good shooter can hit wide-open shots.

you have to know your opponent of course, obviously, the Lakers didn't scout Phx that well before this game. ball movement was crisp, not seen that type of team passing in a long time.

8 turnovers is the exact opposite of efficiency.

14 assists and 11-20 shooting. Beast.

That is what I hate about that type of call, it gives the already bad officials even more leeway to screw up games.

If that was a T, then you have to call the one a minute later when Phoenix had a big reaction to a call.

If you aren't going to be consistent with it, then don't call the first one.

Rules are Rules.

Besides taking into context the strict officiating, did you really expect an official will let a player argue with him over a non-call and NOT give him a T over it during last minutes of the game?
