Murray averaged 30.9 points per 100 possessions in the Finals with Vincent as the primary defender, compared to 36.9 against former Lakers guard Dennis Schroder in the conference finals, per Second Spectrum

I think Ham unleashes him in the 1st round... He might get more minutes and be the primary back up PG off the bench.

Dinwiddie might get downgraded to spot minutes if needed.

I sure hope playoff mode for Vincent has been activated. It seems that expectations are premature tho. We had 1 game where Vincent looked decent on both sides of the ball and Dinwidde imitated him with a bagel zero and all of a sudden Vincent is being touted to receive all of Spencer’s minutes. We need to see more.

Vincent scored zero in 4 of his 6 games back yet Dinwidde had a 12 and an 18 point game over his last 6. Plus, it’s not like Vincent exploded for points, he scored 9. Reason for optimism regarding Vincent for sure, I love the way he dove for that loose ball and hit those two 3pt shots.

Maybe they both step up and give the Lakers better perimeter defense in the playoffs, maybe with two of them at least one them…either one…could be effective for any given game. Maybe Vincent emerges and gets all 3rd guard minutes. At least he’s back and has a chance for that now!

Dinwiddie and Vincent are both known for stepping up in the Playoffs. they should be our 1 and 2 off the bench together. But not in a 3 guard lineup unless its a forward/guard like Christie, till Vando gets back.

This bench

Gabe Vincent
Spencer Dinwiddie
Max Christie
Taurean Prince
Jaxson Hayes

Would be a fine bench unit if Ham actually ran it, or kept a starting forward with them if he isn't gonna play Max, and by starting forward i mean Rui or LeBron or AD(moved to the 4 for spot minutes when the bench comes in).

I saw Vincent guard Murray a few times and I taught he did a good job But it seem like the Lakers didn’t do it enough

Are they still conserving his minutes ?

Has to play more than 8 minutes, especially on a night where DLO was way off.

It's a bit more than that, he and Dinwiddie are being used differently than DLo/Reaves; DLo/Reaves run plays, initiate P&R's, while Vincent/Dinwiddie set up in the corners or pass the ball around the perimeter. The coaching staff apparently doesn't trust them yet to be significant playmakers.

Did you guys see that play where Vincent guarded Murray and Murray took a off balance jumper that completely missed? Vincents defense was perfect that play. I actually think Murray only scored once against Vincent and all the other times were misses?

This is why Vincent needs more minutes..I agree he doesn't do much playmaking..but you can put him on the court with Dlo who could playmake and LBJ.

Oh totally agreed he should get more minutes, his defense has been great. I was just trying to temper expectations - he won't score much until his role is modified.

Ham needs to put the best perimeter defender on Murray for most of the game. If that's Vincent then do it and stop messing around.

Seems like Rob paid him off the playoffs last season. He has been pretty bad his whole career outside of that

Completely agree.

The Dlo/Reeves backcourt is going to get abused. Look at this video around 3:10.

Dlo/Reeves double team Murray off the screen..both gamble and he gets around both of them to get the score.

Even the defense of 2 of them together can't handle Murray.

If that is Vincent on Murray, it would be a different story

Vincent has been overhyped and overrated so far, he scored ZERO points in 5 of his last 7 games. We don’t know what the future will bring but so far Vincent hasn’t shown he should be part of it as of now.
