Why this?
He strived to be #1.....that's what was his ultimate motivation. He lived for that. That's what embodies MB.
Also, 81 is arguably the greatest moment in that arena. The statue in which it stands. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

Sure some will complain because they like to complain - again, Kobe picked it.
The other two statues will obviously be amazing as well.
Kudos to all the folks that spoke. I found Kareem, Derek and Phil's especially moving. Phil's speech was really from the heart. |
Kobe didn't pick that. That was just a sketch from 2019 when Lakers offered ideas. We know Kobe and he wants to look badass** |
So you calling his wife a liar? Nice |
Nah just telling y'all what it is. Kobe was offered ideas and selected a few. His wife ultimately made the final decision. So when she says - **** **** that's her opinion. |
How do you know this???? You are making crap up. He picked this design, period. Not sure what you are trying to achieve here with your comment. Unless you are Vanessa herself, you don't know sh*t about how it was picked. |
Again, Kobe was offered ideas and selected a few. Vanessa made the ultimate decision last year.
I guess I don't know (bleep) though |
Again, you don't know squat other than what you read. Bottom line, Kobe picked it, it is a huge highlight of his career - it's perfect the way he wanted it to be. Vanessa is on record saying Kobe picked it. So, you can't say Vanessa picked the idea when that contradicts what she just told the world. |

I like it, especially being 1/3 of the revealed ones. In #8 jersey the 81 point game is historic and it's a good pose. There's going to be one of him and gigi and one in #24. Excited to see the rest ! |

Ok. Sorry. Black Sheep is just egging people on to be a dick.
Kobe meant a lot to me. Was devastated when he passed. I got angry. I will chill. I saw him play as a rookie, I saw him in the playoffs, I was at the game 4 against Phoenix in 2006. Went to his last game, his jersey retirement game with my family.
Just worked up today. Sad day and happy day. It's weird. |

I don't try to egg people on. I speak my opinion and what I know. That's that. I've been a Laker and Kobe fan since I met him in person when I was younger. Amazing player and the best I've ever witnessed. Absolutely an assassin who killed. |

Not sure how the design process of these works but if they could’ve all been done at the same time then this should’ve been the second one revealed. It’s not good enough to be first or last revealed. Great ceremony though. |
Are you a sculptor? |
No. That's why I said I don't know the design process lol |

I don’t care about the looks of the statue. I am just happy Kobe is continued to being honored and remembered in the way he deserves.
So sweet to hear Phil and others talk about him.
Almost brought me to tears when Phil said that the proudest he was ever of Kobe is when he defended Adam Morrison’s place on the team. A true legend, a narrative you just can’t make up. There will never be a story like Kobe’s ever again.
So nice seeing
Phil
Pau
Lamar
Fish
Ron Artest
Sasha
The gang was here for him.
Looking forward to the next 2 statues. |
