getting into one of the top 6 spots or winning in the play-in is going to be really important. if we fail, we're at risk of literally winning the (bleep) lotto. i guarantee you laker nation will likely never recover if we gift wrap wenbenayama or scoot to the pelicans.
yes, i'd GLADLY give away two FRPs in the future to avoid gift wrapping a generational player.
tldr, being a top 6 seed this year is the best case scenario. i don't care if we get swept. i'm pretty sure crypto.com arena will be in danger of getting literally burned to the ground if we end up losing a #1 or #2 pick.

It's understandable that fans have emotional outbursts like this, but you don't want the FO to make decisions based on an emotional basis.
A trade either makes sense or it doesn't. If you can defend a trade on its merit, that's cool.
But I can't imagine that the small chance of our pick becoming the overall #1 pick will be a factor in what the Lakers actually do.

Fans should be ok because early in the AD thread, people immediately declared that the Lakers won the trade, hands down. I wonder if they still feel that as those picks continue to become actual top talent.

This line of thinking makes absolutely no sense to me.
The Lakers need to worry about THEMSELVES and the future of THIS franchise.
To sit up here and double down YET AGAIN on dumb azz decision after dumb azz decision just to spite a team you WILLINGLY and STUPIDLY overpaid in a trade is so ridiculous.
If the Lakers had any competent leadership, their focus would be obtaining as many assets as they possibly can while their two most attractive trade chips still have value.
It's never going to happen because we have idiots in decision making positions who are in complete and utter denial. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

just trade AD back to the pelicans for wembenyama
This actually is a clever idea.
Offer AD back for control of our pick.
We tank like hell, and get maybe one of those tier one players.
I don't know who they have for salary ballast but win/win in my book.
New Orleans would be fools to make that deal. AD has already reached his peak, doesn’t want to be there, and doesn’t have many years left. The youngster’s sky is the limit and he’s probably already better and more valuable than Davis with far more years left.
you guys are crazy if you think the fanbase is going to tolerate winning the lotto only to give it to the pelicans.
Wemby/Zion/Ingram - lmaoooo
The Lakers don’t care about fans on Twitter, Reddit, and message boards. If they did Westbrook would have never been here and Pelinka would be gone. It’s hilarious that you think that fans will influence their decisions.

If we try to win... we are probably still bottom tier playoff team or at worst... a low lotto pick.
So even injured AD is worth more than that pick.
But in our hands, with full tank mode... and without AD we can turn that low lotto pick or middle of the draft pick into one of those top three tier one players.
We control to some extent how good or bad that pick becomes.
If you believe we are so terrible we can't avoid the bottom of the league then... sure maybe New Orleans doesn't want AD at that price.
All I'm saying is the pick is more valuable in our control to us than it is to them.
wembenyama looks amazing... but looks fragile. hopefully, he can have a long and fruitful career without injuries. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. Sadly I don’t think AD would generate anywhere near that value anymore. Maybe a few mid firsts but anyone that might have a chance a top 3 pick, don’t think glass man moves the needle. He has been exposed the last few seasons since the bubble on what he really can offer as a “leader”. And that is basically his inability to lead NO was not a fluke. He is simply not a #1. Amazing complement to a #1 but if he is your #1, you are at the very best a 6-8 seed and that is at the very best.
I don’t really care what happens to the Lakers, I'm a clipper fan.
What’s sad is the Lakers are legitimately trying their best. They just suck because LeGM and Pelinka have no clue how to assemble a roster or asset manage.
They end up with the NBA version of expendables while competent franchises embarrass us on and off the court.
Jeanie just sits back and talks about 80s, 90s, etc. Her only progressive comment is going on the Rich Eisen show and saying fans are sexist. No we just want a (bleep) competent and winning franchise, don’t get care if a dog is the owner.

I'm okay with us trading the 2 future picks, because if it doesn't work out, we can always trade AD and Bron next summer to recuperate some draft capital. What we get back may not be equal to what the '27 & '29 pick will be, but it's worth going semi-all in while you have two top 15 players.
