A beautiful 50 yard pass from Aaron to Adams

Rodgers tossed for 6. He's answering the bell. If the defense shows up it'll be a Packers win.

What a strange mix of play calls by Detroit. On around the GB 35 or so, Goff fires off some long pass that doesn't come close to his intended target. Detroit then runs this constipated run play that gains two yards on second and long. Then on third down they run a pass play short of the first down marker, making it fourth and one. Green Bay had trouble defending the run all night long, so what does Detroit do? A pass play that goes incomplete.

I believe in mixing up the play calls, but that series was plain stupid.

I expect Green Bay to win this game. Detroit really needed to score on that aforementioned series as their margin of error was small.

Though it's early in the season, I am not impressed by Green Bay. That defense looks worse than last season.

And Goff is still Goff. The man cannot process the field well at all.

Going to Detroit is really NFL purgatory. 0 Super Bowl Wins (like the Chargers, Bengals, Titans, Cardinals, Panthers, Jaguars, Browns, Bills) but I would argue Detroit is the perennial doormat of the NFL.

YEP
You have to give Tonyan some credit for continuing to work.

The referees really don't like the Chargers in the first 2 weeks. The fumble call on what was clearly an incomplete pass in Week 1 made that a close game (they still won), and the calls were so bad against them on Sunday that it makes you wonder if someone really wanted Dallas to win that game. They've moved the ball basically at will through 2 weeks and they have 37 points to show for it. They only punted twice in Week 1 and they did not punt at all on Sunday. Two punts in 2 games and they have 37 points.

Well the drama is building for Week 4 Patriots vs. Buccaneers. Let the digs begin!

Tom Brady Sr.:
Quote:
"...he’s more than happy that he’s moved on because it was pretty obvious that the Patriot regime felt that it was time for him to move on," Brady Sr. told NBC Sports Boston. "And frankly, it may well have been perfect for Belichick to move on from him.

"On the other hand, I think the Tampa Bay [Buccaneers] are pretty happy that the decision was made in Foxborough that they didn’t want to afford him or didn’t want to keep him when his last contract came up."

Alex Guererro, Quack Extraordinaire:
Quote:
“The interesting thing I think there — and this is just me, an outsider looking in — it was like Bill never really . . . I think his emotions or feelings never evolved with age,” Guerrero said. “I think in time, with Tom, as Tom got into his late 30s or early 40s, I think Bill was still trying to treat him like that 20-year-old kid that he drafted. And all the players, I think, realized Tom was different. He’s older, so he should be treated differently. And all the players, none of them would have cared that he was treated differently. I think that was such a Bill thing. He never evolved. So you can’t treat someone who’s in his 40s like they’re 20. It doesn’t work.”

From what I know, New England ownership had to choose between Brady and Belichick. Ownership didn't intervene during contract negotiations as they knew Bill being Bill would likely move on. The entire "Brady wanted better weapons" and "Brady wanted more money" was chicken feed for the local press.

The man can thank Sean McVay for making him look good and getting him that huge contract.

QB rejects are playing good football. Sam Darnold just rushed for 6. Panthers 7 Texans 0

McCaffrey quickly ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury. Ominously, he was in the medical tent for a good 20 minutes. Perhaps encouragingly, he did finally exit the tent and walked to the locker room under his own power.

Carolina is likely to move to 3-0 but the injuries are mounting for them. After losing McCaffrey, Jaycee Horn, their very impressive rookie CB, went down non-contact with a foot issue that could be an Achilles. And just a few moments ago DJ Moore, who is torching people this year, went down on the field as well, although his injury may not be serious. Will update if it is.

Moore is fine, but Horn has a broken foot. Big blow to their coverage.

To no one's surprise, Darnold has had three consecutive good weeks to start the year after leaving Adam Gase's torture chamber. Joe Brady should get some credit there as well, Carolina's passing game looks smooth.

I really love what Carolina is doing and what it's building. Granted, they've faced the Jets and Texans so far, but they completely shut down the Saints also, and their pass rush looks pretty ferocious. Brian Burns has arrived. And Horn is a player, although he's likely out at least a couple of months if not longer. Darnold might be on a Tannehill-esque career arc after getting away from Gase, the only difference being that Tannehill was much older when he got to Tennessee and Darnold is still only 24 years old. DJ Moore is a stud. I like Terrace Marshall. Robby Anderson is usable for sure, though they haven't targeted him much so far. And I like the versatility at TE that Tommy Tremble may be able to offer as he grows into the position.

They essentially drafted all defense last year, and it's starting to show dividends. Added some offensive pieces this year. I like how they have built the team, and it looks like Rhule could be a star hire and of course they have the Joe Brady offense, and you're seeing what LSU looks like without Brady.

Matt Rhule and that front office are propelling Carolina in the right direction. The defense looks solid, and the ROI on their recycling project QB looks tremendous. The question going forward is at what point do they approach Darnold for an extension, and how much should they pay? So far so good for both parties.

Just shows the difference of what going from a bad organization (Jets) to a good organization (Panthers) can do for a QB. All of the sudden Darnold appears to be a legit NFL QB now that he doesn't have to carry the entire load for a bad team.

Well stated.

That being said, the Panthers may have won a Pyrrhic victory last night. Their first round pick Jaycee Horn broke multiple bones in his foot and might be out for the season. Christian McCaffrey might be out for a few weeks due to a hamstring injury. The frequency of injury to McCaffrey should be a concern. If it wasn't for that contract the best move might be to try converting him to a slot receiver.

The Bolts are doing it to the Chiefs 14 0. That's a surprise.
