This is where I'm at on Scottie Barnes in the top 10:
Quote: | Eustacchio Raulli
@EVR1022
Related--the (draft position) of the Top 10 defenders in 5 year D-RAPM:
1. Gobert (27)
2. Giannis (15)
3. Embiid (3)
4. Jimmy (30)
5. Covington (UD)
6. Winslow (10)
7. Brow (1)
8. Nurkic (16)
9. PG (10)
10. Roberson (26)
Predicting elite defense is hard. Lots of 10-30 picks. |

I think Keon has more of a guard "vibe" than Zhaire and ZS had the freakish food poisoning incident that helped derail his career, but a skinny 6'4.75 dude with a sub 6'8 wingspan without a hint of PG skill who needs to completely rework his shot? There's almost no way the team that drafts him gets anything positive from him on his first contract. _________________ Under New Management |

I think there's flaws with his reasoning.
The closest guy that resembles Barnes' physical tools is Winslow, and he doesn't have Winslow's base. While I'm optimistic about Barnes defensively, it's really just at the 4 slot on both ends of the floor, like a grounded Boris Diaw.
All of the guys mentioned have outlier physical tools.
The lack of shooting and explosiveness at the rim hurts, and sounds a ton like Winslow anyway. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Keon has more guard vibe. Zhaire got the draft jump because of his Marion-like off ball ability.
I just get a Corey Brewer vibe, where he's too fast for his own body, and not enough halfcourt skill outside of finishing to compensate, so he's a bit of a skills project.
But some DT guys are optimistic about him developing ball handling and speaking in terms that are above me. Either way, he doesn't make it to a Laker pick. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Taking a 24 year old in a draft is anything but a steal. |
2nd best shooter in the draft and ready to go day 1. Laker steal baby
Unfortunately, someone else will steal him first......probably the damn Hawks like when they stole Huerter |

Not sure that is fair to Da'Sean Butler....he was going to be a 1st Round selection until he blew out his knee in the Final 4.
nbaDrafter wrote: | To elaborate the retrograde stuff - the guy never really gets to the rim or really takes threes. |
I do not think never takes threes is an accurate description. He shot over 41% on almost 4 attempts a game. While that is not high volume, that is fairly solid volume. I do not have access to his numbers attacking the rim, but I feel like my memory is full of Deuce taking it to the rim for buckets. |

Yup, Moody would be ideal, Kai definite requires a trade up to at least mid 1st.
BJ Boston killed it in HS. Kinda need him to be a scrimmage warrior to see if anything changed. |
To me, BJ just doesn't pass the eye test. Lacks something
Would love Tai to slip.
Still praying on Duarte but would not be mad at Roko, McBride, or Williams |

Doubtful. There are a number of guys with better shooting profiles who will go second round or undrafted. Duarte has the most well rounded game/athletic profile amongst most of that crew.
But Joe Wieskamp drafted at #42 could easily end up being better than Duarte. There's nothing really special about Chris. _________________ Under New Management |

And that's what makes the draft so awesome. Everybody has their point of view.
Appreciate yours, but I would love me some Duarte at 22 if available:) |

BJ lacks strength, advanced handle, has a gather like Josh Jackson. Just didn't look comfortable shooting at the NCAA level and his confidence wavered midseason with the ridiculously tight spacing.
But, other players have tight spacing too and find ways to excel. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

The refinement. The ancillary skills aren't low. Wieskamp doesn't create shots to Duarte's level, and I don't believe him as a shooter (because it's not as diverse) or as an athlete because you don't see a ton of it being used on the court. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Thoughts on Cam Thomas?
So he’s a scoring machine and has a good mid range but his 3pt shot isn’t that efficient right? _________________ 24 |

Mike, any thoughts on Josh Primo?
He looks like he could create, dribble and pass? |
