Quote: | Feds Ordered to Stop Detaining Immigrant Children in Hotels |
Quote: | A federal judge has denied the Trump administration’s request to continue detaining unaccompanied immigrant children in hotels, finding the children are protected by a settlement governing their treatment in federal custody.
U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee called the Trump administration’s reasoning for continuing the private contractor-run program “bewildering” and said it fails to show how it protects immigrant children from contracting Covid-19.
“The public also has an interest in preventing the spread of Covid-19, and as this court has now reiterated on multiple occasions (and as defendants have yet to refute), placing minors in licensed, regulated facilities, with proper safety protocols, would likely do more to mitigate the spread of the virus than housing them in hotels open to the public,” Gee wrote in the order, which takes effect Sep. 28.
In recent months, the Trump administration has detained hundreds of immigrant children in hotels, claiming the move was a public health measure to prevent people from bringing the novel coronavirus into the U.S. during a raging pandemic.
The Department of Homeland Security used the order to detain children in public hotels instead of its licensed facilities being monitored by Gee, the federal judge presiding over the Flores settlement proceedings in Los Angeles federal court. The landmark 1997 agreement sets national standards on the treatment, detention and release of immigrant children in federal custody. |

So Dana Rohrabacher did meet Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London and offered him a presidential pardon in exchange if Assange asserted that Trump received no assistance from the Russians in the 2016 election...and there's video!

Manchin is a yes on Haaland. Tanden needs Murkowski to be that 50th vote. _________________ Under New Management |

Have you met the Congressional Republicans? There will not be a single yes vote by a Republican on the COVID relief package. Not one. How do you expect them to care about bipartisanship when they don't even care if their own constituents live or die or go broke or starve to death?
Be happy in La La Land though if it makes you happy. |

Republicans reacted to losing the House, the Senate and the White House by writing a record number of voter suppression laws -- the most since Jim Crowe. They know they can't win on the issues so they have to both lie and cheat. They are repeating the lie that the 2020 election was stolen by illegal voting as a way to justify writing these laws. They are all as bad as Trump now.

Dems can keep Jim Crow filibuster & allow GOP to pass explosion of Jim Crow 2.0 laws
Or they can eliminate filibuster & pass John Lewis Voting Rights Act & For the People Act |
Unless Congress passes the new voting rights act, this will continue. |

Manchin's a no. They're trying to shake out one GOP vote.
If the nomination does fall through, I hope they name Tanden as Special Advisor to the Office of Bullying Manchin. _________________ Under New Management |

He sucks but you don't win as a democrat in west virginia by rubber stamping the party agenda. A stomach-able Trump score and a fairly high Trump plus-minus. One of the few with such a profile that survived reelection. Don't get me wrong, i'm displeased with him, but there are worse enemies like, say, Susan Collins, a Republican that consistently fails her (democratic) constituents |

Tell it to the millions of Americans living in Puerto Rico and D.C. who won't get representation. Or the millions of Americans who will probably not get enough of an expansion in healthcare, which they need. Or the millions of Americans who will get less COVID relief than they need, later than they need. Or the millions of Americans who won't get a $15 minimum wage.
Heck tell it to the Democrat Congresspeople who voted to approve the ACA back in an election year (2010) even though they knew it would cost them their seats. Elected officials who put their country over themselves.
Manchin isn't up for reelection till 2024. And he'll still get portrayed as a socialist then. I'm not even sure if this is a politically smart for him. 3-4 years is a looong time.
He's a selfish (bleep), cares about what he perceives is best for his political career over the needs of the other 380 million people in this country.
If Republicans wanted to pass a bill to eat the homeless. He'd say, "I believe in bipartisanship and compromise. So I'm voting for cannibalism of the homeless from the waist down."
Far too often he makes me embarrassed that he's in the same party I am. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

I think bipartisan no longer means working together with Republicans in Congress, it means passing legislation that is supported by most Americans. That's why Biden and the Democrats are confident, they know the $1.9 trillion bill is supported by a big majority of this country and will help this country start recovering from the economic hole we're in. And that's why the Republicans in Congress don't want them to pass it. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Correct. They already are messaging exactly that. Their goal is to pick off independents and republicans outside of DC. They are thinking about the mid terms. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Washington Post: A Capitol rioter texted his ex during the insurrection to call her a ‘moron,’ feds say. She turned him in.
Quote: | Standing on the Capitol steps on Jan. 6, Richard Michetti allegedly took a break from the rioting to argue with his ex-girlfriend over text message. After sending photos and videos of the mob and boasting how he had avoided tear gas, Michetti parroted Donald Trump’s false claims of election fraud.
“If you can’t see the election was stolen you’re a moron,” Michetti wrote in a text to the woman, according to court documents.
The next day, the woman he had insulted promptly told the FBI that her ex was at the Capitol, handing over to law enforcement the string of texts, photos and videos he had sent to her. |
