Lockdowns only work when you are trying to contain a virus from entering a community. They do no work in the long term because people eventually get bored and restless from being locked inside their homes.
They work when the virus is already in a community. Other countries have proven that. They only work when there are strong mandates and they are followed. People get bored over time and there is human nature, but in our country there are a whole bunch of people who refused from the get go.
Right. Australia has been doing a fantastic job with lockdowns and traveler quarantine being taken seriously. Some provinces, like Victoria, are almost devoid of cases.
Australia is sparsely populated with the exception of a few big cities like Sydney. Not to mention the only way people can traditionally enter the country is thru the airlines so that is a much easier to control their borders.
This is the silly argument I hear all the time. We aren’t dealing with foreign people repeatedly bringing the virus to our pristine shores. We are giving it to each other. You could close the borders tomorrow and all you’d do is save some foreign countries from us. Many countries dealt with it after it came in. It has been a long time since that was even a minor problem here.
The virus had an origin source, but now you have various mutations from around the world. So yes, stopping travel won't stop the virus but it could stop strains that are prevalent in other regions from spreading to other regions.
But that’s telling a narrow truth to obfuscate the larger one, that our problem was not primarily and now is almost wholly not about origin, it’s about managing spread. And it’s not about people becoming bored with lock downs. These are all deflections that indicate a rather obvious understanding both of what the problem is and how uncomfortable and inconvenient that is to a certain viewpoint, so it’s basically a transparent defense mechanism. _________________ “We must always take sides. You're completely focusing on the wrong problem.
The goal of preventing people from being infected should trump the goal of reducing prevalence of new strains. If you lock down the borders so new strains can't get in, but the existing strains in that region run rampant, what are you accomplishing?

Defeating the virus is going to take patience and sacrifice. Biden's doing his part, WE THE PEOPLE have to do ours.
We should follow CDC protocol. It allows freedoms, it also allows restrictions. What has to set in and become a reality is, it's going to take years to defeat this malady. Human nature goes counter to accepting that time in defeating the virus is a reality.
Totalitarian governments are way ahead of us in reductions of new cases, they MAKE their citizens do what they say. We can't do that, we have freedumb. Our rights are more important to some than conquering the virus.
Biden's approach will most likely cause a turning of the corner. I believe we're already seeing a downward trend of new cases. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.
Why lift the stay at home order just as cases start to decline?
They've released numbers but they've never released methodologies or models that they use in decision making. I suspect the truth is that industry lobbying is a factor.
Dad's out of the ICU. He also tested negative for COVID two days in a row. He is getting stronger each day and communicates more, but he's still tired most of the time as his muscles are very weak. But that's to be expected. He'll soon go to a nearby rehab facility where he will hopefully regain most of his strength. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid!

Excellent! It'll take him a while to get stronger but he will get there.
I have an aunt (not nearly as sick as your dad was, she was not hospitalized) who was very shaky and weak at first and took several weeks to fully recover but she is doing very well now. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman

Doubling up on masks adds to "obstacle course" for COVID particles, research shows
January 20, 2021 / 8:37 AM / CBS News
Health experts saying wearing a mask provides protection against COVID-19 both for the person wearing it and those around them. Now, reports CBS Denver, there's evidence that wearing two masks may offer even more protection.
The station's medical editor, Dr. Dave Hnida, spoke about those reports in an interview on CBSN Denver.
"It has been backed up by research that two masks are, in fact, better than one," Hnida said. "Specifically what we're saying is that two masks may actually equal the protection you would get from N-95 masks, which is considered the best mask there is short of a complete respirator-type unit."
He said wearing a surgical mask with a cloth mask over it provides an extra layer of protection.
"The reason for that is you do wind up getting more filtration of viral particles. It becomes more of an obstacle course for the viral particle to make its way from the air into your nose and throat and then into your lungs."
But Hnida cautions that three masks may be going too far, since that could interfere with the ability to breathe.
He pointed out Joe Biden has been "double-masking" for many months, as have NFL coaches at games.
"Even in my own family, when we have outside contact — as limited as it may be — we double mask," Hnida said. "So the question is, 'Is it effective?' The answer is 'yes' -- and it's something you may want to consider."

Great news. I'm a believer in the power of prayer. I'll send another up right now. 🙏🏾 Done! _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
