Atlanta Braves designate Mike Foltynewicz for assignment after rough start
Foltynewicz was one of the best pitchers in MLB 2 seasons ago. Then he was throwing mid to high 90's gas....now his fastball often clocks less than 90 mph. If he cannot fix that, then I assume he is finished.
On another note, watching Kimbrel pitch last night, I think he may be finished. He was bad last year, and he was just terrible last night in his first outing this year....lost velocity and struggled to throw fastballs for strikes. Cubs owe him $16 Million per season through 2022! |

Hard to put it much better. This raises the question: Do the American people deserve sports after their actions over the past few months? |
Sports aren’t a reward, they are entertainment corporations. I have no problem if those corporations disappear completely. I have a good life without them. Remember, they need us, we don’t need them. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Manfred quickly becoming a Goodell-level type of commissioner.
I am waiting for him to do something right, he botches everything he gets involved in. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

They won't reach 60 games at the current rate of postponed games. |

It looks like it's the Yankees year (league leading 6-1) and some Marlins ( it's always Florida) goons go out and party and possibly ruin the season.
This was the luckiest thing those Coward Astros could have happen to them. _________________ Creatures crawl in search of blood, To terrorize y'alls neighborhood. |

Rumors are they are thinking of adding 4 inning quadruple-headers.
They can knock out 60 games in 15 days.
This also means that Joe Kelly’s suspension would be worth 32 games now. |

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but if a pitcher throws a complete game no-hitter during a 7 inning Double Header game, is that still considered a "Complete" game or does he get an asterisk? _________________ “Always remember... both. asterisk just indicates circumstances worthy of note, it doesn't lessen the value of the accomplishment. Fans do that. |

The Oakland A's have acquired left-hander Mike Minor from the Texas Rangers for two players to be named later, sources tell ESPN. A's needed rotation help and get it with a trade for Minor, who's a free agent after this season. |

You got him for much less than I thought, too. To me the Padres are now the clear 2nd-best team in the NL. Sets up the Dodgers and Padres on a collision course for a 2nd round best-of-5 series, if they can each get past the first round, which is of course no guarantee. |

I really hate the 2 out of 3 in the first round this year. That's truly a toss up, and it's like you get no reward for having a regular season. There's gonna be some crazy results for sure |

Oh yeah. Anyone can lose a 3-game series. Even a 5-game series is random. A 3-game series? Utterly random. |

MLB analyst and former big league general manager Jim Bowden took to Twitter on Monday and declared San Diego Padres general manager A.J. Preller a "rock star" for what he pulled off over the past few days. It's hard to argue with that characterization.
Preller and the Padres spent the last four-plus years carefully stockpiling young talent to form baseball's top farm system. Over the last few days he dealt from the tremendous depth he built to fundamentally remake the Padres in stunning fashion with several enormous deals. The crazy part? Preller and the Padres didn't surrender any of their top four prospects and still likely possess a top-five system.
The Padres landed the top catcher (Austin Nola), and starting pitcher (Mike Clevinger) on the trade market, while also adding a veteran defensive catcher (Jason Castro), upgrading the designated hitter spot (Mitch Moreland) and getting bullpen help (Trevor Rosenthal, Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla). For all of that, they surrendered just one top 100 prospect, 22-year-old outfielder Taylor Trammell.
That's simply incredible, especially considering Nola, Clevinger, Moreland, Altavilla and Adams are all under team control beyond this season. This wasn't just about 2020-- most of the guys San Diego landed will be there for a while.
