What other player can appear out of no where and swat a wide open dunk from one of the league’s darling centers, control the ball, lead a fast break, and finish with an unbelievable alley oop. Luka is an amazing player, but he can’t do what AD does.
For years we waited to Randle, Russell, Ingram, and Ball to become a transcendent talent. We have two of those on the team right now. _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |

The only good asset that the Lakers traded was Ingram. Lonzo is a bust, Hart a normal role player and the picks will most likely not be top tier players. |
It’s not about the players. It’s about the fact that it will take the Lakers essential 10 years to recover from this trade.
The trade was essentially a 2 year championship window and then 6-8 years of average (if we are lucky) teams. |
Do you not realize how difficult it is to win championships in this league? If the Lakers manage to win at least one (or two!) the AD trade was more than worth it. Look at the kids we traded away for him. They went somewhere else and still couldn't get into the playoffs. The Lakers were probably going to just be "average at best" if they had kept them regardless. A slew of talented players, but there was no superstar in that bunch. At least with AD here (presumably anyway) post-LBJ there will always be the possibility that they can bring in another star. Guys will wanna play with AD on the Lakers. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. Yea. You don't trade one elite player for another.
You try to pair your elite player with another. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖 #18!!! |

We wouldn't have had a championship window with Ingram, Ball and Hart instead. Even a 28-year-old prime LeBron wouldn't have made that happen.
AD may not be an alpha, but he's an outstanding 1B guy who gets it done at both ends, has an amazing portfolio of offensive skills and is anchoring an elite defense. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

The way i see it, AD is kinda like Kareem. He's not a leader, let alone an alpha, and like almost any superstar big who's ever played, he's dependant on a superstar guard or wing to set the table and maximize him.
But he's all-world and is elite at both ends. Plus he's 27 and could have like 8 elite years left. Only an idiot would want to trade him any time soon.
Guys like AD don't exactly grow on trees. People were saying the same kind of crap about Shaq in the late 90s, but I doubt anyone wanted to trade him. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

I honestly think we could be surprised by how aggressively he attacks this postseason. He knows the stakes, and he knows his long-term legacy could truly begin now. |

Not sure how he'll look with this matchup offensively. He's not strong enough to push Nurkic around near the basket. But if his midrange jumper is on he could have a big series. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

AD is a more talented, calmer version of Pau Gasol. We will see if he has the inner fierce pride that Gasol showed he had. Our postseason life depends on it |

Neither Nurk nor Hassan can handle AD's face-up game/foot speed. I fully expect him to average 30+
Here's 12 minutes of AD torching Nurkic in any number of ways:

Nurkic would have to treat AD the way that the Clippers treated Luka, lots of elbows and body contact. To Luka’s credit he didn’t shy away, I was very impressed. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Eh. That guard play from Rondo and Jrue looks alot different than ours recently. But I'm hoping you are right. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

yeah but lebron. And while KCP, Waiters, etc don't pass like Jrue and Rondo, remember the wisdom of tex winter - there are three ways to penetrate and get in the paint: off the dribble, post entry, and off of the offensive rebound (hence, the Kobe assist). KCP and Waiters et al can toss junk off of the backboard with the best of them |

Always a pleasure chopping it up with you. A Tex quote and a Kobe reference in one post. You make it look easy. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Damn, a few years back, I really thought AD was a complete player with no weaknesses. It's apparent now that he lacks that killer mentality. |

AD has always been like this. He never really wanted to be "The man" that takes a team to the Championship. He is more a Gasol or Bosh kind of role in a Championship team. Which is very valuable, but you need to pair him with someone better than him(or a very deep team) in order to succeed when it matters.
LeBron in his prime could have been that guy, but LeBron currently needs someone that will take the initiative from him and take over. AD is not that guy.
The team could have probably countered this had they kept all their depth and added AD to it but we're the typical "top heavy" LeBron James 'super' team that in their last 5 Finals won only 1 of them due circumstances you can't depend on consistently.
If AD can't step up and take initiative from LeBron the way LeBron took it from D-Wade then we're done as far as a title goes. Problem is, AD's never shown himself to be capable of that on a dependable level. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:
