I think Memphis' pre-bubble play (along with the other teams' pre-bubble play) say they do deserve to get in.
Same. 60+ games more than earned it. They put a young team in the bubble and gave them a brutal schedule to try and get Zion in.
If Blazers lose tonight, are they still guaranteed a play-in game? (Assuming Memphis and Phoenix win their games).
The league certainly shafted the Grizzlies with this odd manipulation of the standings by creating a play-in scenario.
Was interesting that there was so little criticism of the format. As it obviously was an attempt to get rid of those pesky Grizz. If I’m a Grizzlies fan I would be upset when they miss the playoffs due to the the strategy.
As a fan it will make for a more entertaining series for the Lakers but the dismissing of the hard work and results of the Grizzlies season up to that point is kind of ridiculous. It seems to be working just as they planned though.
It’s a slippery slope because it devalues the regular season. You let 8 games after a 5 month layoff mean more than 60+ regular season games and all the grind and injuries that are a part of the season.

I just find it funny how arbitrary the decision was with the sole purpose of giving teams the best chance to replace the Grizz in the playoffs. It is not even a little bit hidden.
Imagine if the NBA had given the 2nd seeds the same opportunity to catch and have a “seeding play-in” with the Lakers or Bucks. At least if the NBA chose to close the gaps of all seeding to within a game it gives the appearance of rules applying to all teams. And all 8 games some competitive relevance.
“This series “? I’m excited about every series in the West.
Going to be so much fun. I’ve been waiting for this incredibly competitive playoffs since the beginning of the season.
The only series in the East first round that could be intriguing is the MIA/ IND series. Maybe! In the West there is not a bad matchup of all four series.
Whats the chances Thunder knock out Rockets early?
Better now without Russ. D'antoni might play Harden almost the entire game when Russ is out. Harden with shooters around him is tough to stop. I think OKC can win, but I feel like Rockets still pull it off.

OKC is tough but they don’t shoot well enough imo. Maybe Galinari gets hot.

No Russ doesn’t help. OKC getting Schoroder back to he hasn’t played the whole bubble. Very interesting series for sure. Harden is going to have to go all out for about 45 minutes a game for them to win games. Have watched them the past couple games they are not a good team when he is not on the floor. Wouldn’t surprise me if Westbrook tries to come back sooner.
Has D’Antoni gone through a single playoffs without one of his top three players injured? This guy can’t catch a break. Had a chance with the Suns, Amare gets injured in WCF, Kobe and Nash gets hurt in LA, almost had a shot vs GSW but CP3 gets hurt in the last couple games, and now Westbrook.

maybe more than coincidences. players most likely suffer injuries playing in a run and gun style offense ALL THE TIME, ALL GAME LONG.

Maybe don't play them when their quads are already hurting

Dantoni is a moron. I will never forgive him for what he said about us Laker fans.
Anyway, we might want to avoid Phoenix because they are blowing the Mavs out now and haven't lost a game in the bubble.
