This is pretty incredible looking.
They built a bionic arm for this woman and re-routed her nerve endings to her chest muscles. She can move the arm by thinking about it. Definitely check out the diagram, and I've included a link to a video.

I wonder how they connect the nerve cells with the mechanical part of it.
I mean I'm sure that part isn't exposed... and it can't really be inserted, otherwise she'd have to take all kinds of medicine to keep her immune system from mounting a response on her mechanical arm.
Cool story although I doubt this will be a long term solution. |
