Battling for 8 months after a catastrophic leg injury sustained at last year's Preakness Stakes, race horse Barbaro was euthanized this morning due to complications related to the injury.
Here's a link to the story from CNN/SI.

Personally, I've never really been into horse racing or horses in general at all, but after hearing about Barbaro's injury, reading about the severity of the injuries sustained and following his battle against the odds I was really pulling for him to recover.
Sadly, a full recovery for Barbaro was not to be.
RIP Barbaro. |

Yeah I'm sure horse owners everywhere just love you right now
Owners form a special bond with their pets I mean there are those who have dogs and cats as if they are a part of the family. I don't even care for pets but I understand the bond and realize its a loss when the said pet is dead.
Its very sad to hear such a young Colt die the way he did but at least it was peaceful. |

No! The top news was Hilary cracking a joke.
She must be stone cold if it is news when she cracks a joke.
And it is just a friggin horse, both of 'em. _________________ Where's Cokie the Clown when you need him? |

I have to agree with the poster who said it is just a horse. I am an animal lover but for this to be the top news story when there is SO much going on shows a severe lack of worldly comprehension. |

i'd say to have either story as the top story of the day is ridiculous. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

I'm just waiting for sports radio to make a crack about flags flying at half-staff at all WNBA games.

That may be true, but to be the top BREAKING NEWS story of the day? | I agree... if they really cared, they would stop breeding horses with these pencil thin legs just so they could run faster... |
