I dont anticipate any "gotcha" strategies like this when AD will most likely sign a 2+1 this summer.
Until we lock him up on a 35%max 5yr deal in 2022, I don't think we should attempt to pull a fast one on dude.
I get why you guys leave me AD at the 5 offensively...but again, on defense having that dude's length/mobility on the perimeter with a rim protector behind him just makes the potential of our defense so much more imposing on the opposition.
As for Kuz, his TPA continues to be...well it could be much better.

It will be quite interesting to see how Kuzma responds to coming off the bench with AD expected back in the line up against the Celtics, hopefully he keeps playing at a high level. |

https://www.lakersnation.com/kyle-kuzma-talks-about-playing-point-guard-helped-him/2017/11/11/
“Utah helped me a lot. In high school, I was a point guard. I wasn’t 6’9″ at the time; I hadn’t hit a growth spurt. In prep school I played the 2 or 3 mostly, but I was almost always a guard. Once I got to Utah, I played the 4 and the 5. It completed my game in a sense. I already had a lot of guard stuff, but when I got there, I learned how to be a 4 and play like a big. And I wasn’t really a good defender my first two years of college, but eventually got better at that too.”
Kuz a lot more like Lamar Odom or Ben Simmons or Scottie Pippen than most people thinking
All these guys play point guard in high school
Even Charles Barkley and Anthony Davis
Why do we have to pigeon hole Kuzma because he had a “growth spurt” before he went to Utah?
His coach at Utah was former Bucks Power Forward Larry Krystkowiak who was basically like Mitch Kupchak
Larry tried to turn Kuz into a Power Foward because he was 6’9” and that is what Larry was
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Krystkowiak
It is much easier having Kuz play TWO. Hell Ben Simmons does the same thing. On Defense Simmons guards ones and twos and threes.
On offense Simmons is like a combination of Rajan Rondo and Clint Capela so he is more often in the four spot.
Than having Anthony Davis (who could actually do it) or Bron (too old. Could probably do it 10 years ago) do it. |

I like the way he's been boarding lately. Could just be a random spike in easier opportunity because he still has some vexing habits near the rim (doesn't box out, let's guys do it to him with little resistance) but he's at least going for it. Could be a dude who slithers for boards. |

There's certain types of players he can defend well and certain types he can't
Physically strong shorter players he does well against. Taller players not so much _________________ Kobe |

Sucks for Kuzma. AD plays the 4, but should be a 5. Lebron can also play the 4. The only time for Kuz to play with them the last 6 minutes of each half. Of course he has to prove he belongs there still, but it would be easier for him to get in rhythm if he had starter minutes. |

LO was an enigma who had superstar potential, but the circumstances didn't work out for him, and the Clippers were a dysfunctional wreck at the time he was drafted. He was amazing as the secondary/primary distributor on our championship squads, and could guard 1-5. I'll never forget the chemistry between him and Gasol. Rare kind of player who did it all, but didn't excel in one particular area. Comparing him to Kuz is apples and oranges, and Kuz obviously excels in scoring over him. Kuz is a 20+ scorer in this league IMO. |

LO was such an underrated player. Elite ballhandling for a big, elite rebounding, versatile defender, looked to pass before scoring. It is not in Kuzma's dna to be such a selfless player like Odom was. Kuz is still trying to make his name in this league and he feels he has to score to do it. I give him credit for showing marginal growth defensively. |

Yeah, LO was a beast, and would’ve been a HOFer if he could shoot better |

Mood swings is game to game basis for Kuz. Odom had a different game and was good on help defender but he was much of an enigma that he was a subject of trade talks every year until we finally win it all. Suns were trying hard to pry him even giving up Marion who an all star and a catalyst to their team defensively. |

And a faaaaaar worse rebounder.
More often than not, we're soft on the glass when Kuzma runs the 4. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |
