How dare Alex Caruso be listed against those names of absolute legends. The best of the best. When we talk about needing all stars, we mean we need a Brad Miller, or Mehmet Okur. Possibly a Roy Hibbert.
We can't let Alex Caruso dilute this of all meaning for me. This is more important than fans having fun with a popularity contest. We must remain disciplined, like we have always done in the past. |
That's always a weak argument: "It's OK to make a bad choice today because we made a few bad choices in the past." I can't think of any situation where they one flies. |

Only you think its a bad choice. I think Caruso as an all star is a great choice, and so do most Laker fans.

Just think, for the same reasons, Tacko Fall getting in ahead of say Bam Adebayo would not be good.
If you think that would be good, ok. But I think Bam is a much better player this season and should be the one playing, even if he has fewer fan votes than Fall. _________________ Clippers are our Daddy. |

Amusing how many are moaning about the choice instead of seeing it for evidence of exactly what it is: the absolute BS of valuing "accomplishments" other people vote for. all-star appearances, MVPs, all-defense, etc.--all complete BS popularity contests that say nothing of a player's value. But, LG keep being LG. There is no such thing as a good choice or a bad choice. It is whoever the fans want to see. I won't be watching the game so I don't give a damn except for supporting my own team. If you'd rather watch a Harden/Luka flopfest then vote for them and be happy and let everyone else voting for their choices be happy too. |

Silly comment.. So not wanting to see Caruso, equates to wanting to see Harden/Luka flopping??? No one is stopping anyone from doing anything. Some are simply expressing how dumb it is. Which is their right. |

What I find amusing is characterizing an opposing viewpoint as moaning..
Many don't think he's all-star material, even those voting for him know he isn't. |

Maybe, because of Caruso's impact in the vote that the NBA will, someday, designate the sixth man as an all star position. That would give well-deserved recognition to all bench players. Do it Adam! |

Maybe cause this is exactly what all-star voting is, skills AND popularity (AND nationality, has to mention this because of Lin and Pachulia) |

Not worried about the millionaires. I would like to see a more entertaining ASG.
The top players don’t do the dunk contest anymore. And now guys like Caruso and Tacko Fall are getting votes ahead of more deserving players.
They ought to look for avenues to improve the ASG rather than ways to make even more of a mockery of it than it already is. _________________ Clippers are our Daddy. |

How many votes do guys need to get to make the team? Is the voting only for starters or do the top guys automatically get in? I need more information on how the process works to try to understand why people on this board care about Caruso being 4th in voting. |

What is Caruso's average efficiency rating. Or whatever the number is
Saw a +15 tonight
Without his defensive IQ tonight against Westbrook then what? |

That's been true for a long time. Started almost 20 years ago when Lebron bowed out of it. Stars realized that the dunk competition was a no-win scenario for them; it's only useful for the guys that are unknown.
ringfinger wrote: | And now guys like Caruso and Tacko Fall are getting votes ahead of more deserving players. |
Don't see why you're getting worked up over guys so far down in the voting, but again nothing new. Go back 30 years and Muggsy Bogues was getting more votes than Joe Dumars, Šarūnas Marčiulionis got more than Kevin Johnson, AC Green more than Karl Malone, and on and on. Fans have always made a lot of illogical choices.
The NBA pretty much solved the problem by adding the media an players vote, which prevents bad choices from getting in based on illogical fans voting. Don't see why Tacko Fall coming in 6th matters at all.
ringfinger wrote: | They ought to look for avenues to improve the ASG rather than ways to make even more of a mockery of it than it already is. |
They've been trying to improve the all star game for years and years. No matter what they do, no one cares, and the players don't take the game seriously. |
