Do the Right Thing and Moonstruck Actor Dies at 86
Danny Aiello was also known for movies including Hudson Hawk and Jacob's Ladder
Danny Aiello, the Oscar-nominated actor best known for movies including Do the Right Thing and Moonstruck, has died, PEOPLE confirms. He was 86.
Aiello died on Thursday night at a medical facility in New Jersey, TMZ reports. According to the outlet, he was in the facility being treated for a sudden illness and had suffered an infection related to his treatment.
The actor broke into Hollywood in 1973 with a role in the Robert De Niro-starring baseball film Bang the Drum Slowly. Shortly after, he played Tony Rosato in The Godfather: Part II, where he said the famous line, “Michael Corleone says hello!”
Aiello received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the classic 1989 Spike Lee film Do the Right Thing. In the movie, he played the character of Salvatore “Sal” Fragione, the owner of a pizzeria in Brooklyn.
Loved that guy.

For some reason, his character in The Professional is always the one that stuck with me. RIP to a great character actor _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Damn, loved this guy. Moonstruck is one of my favorite films ever (top 10 for sure), and I will also mention his role as the corrupt cop in the Eddie Murphy comedy Harlem Nights, which I will always say is underrated. He was one of those Italian dudes that just always had presence, maybe like a Chazz Palminteri or something like that.
Riposare in pace. |

Exactly. That’s who he is to me. He’s better than a bank because banks are always getting knocked over and no one knocks over old Tony. _________________ We back. |

Seems as though he used his life experiences to mold acting characters. RIP _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
