I'm not so sure the Lakers would dump Smush considering he knows the system and contributes reguarly - if imperfectly. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

You bring Kidd to LA, and you can rekindle Showtime without question.
As a matter of fact, you just might have enough to run with the Suns.
New Jersey almost did it WITHOUT Kobe and Lamar.
The run and gun was Kidd's signature before it was ever Nash's M.O. |

well with the way the Nets are playing - it ain't happening.

A young, very promising C plus parts for a still young but with mileage skinny C/PF who has already had a major injury? Yeah, I see the Lakers doing that one. | i simply asked if that would be a package memphis would like...nowhere do i say whether i think the lakers would or should do it.. |

I'm sure we wouldn't dump him, but if somehow we were getting Kidd, Smush would likely be unhappy with his demotion anyway. I could see NJ wanting him as part of the deal--a young, cheap semi-replacement for the guy going out.
But I agree... it ain't happening.
Thing is, I think we all implicitly know that we are one piece away, one significant piece. We are tantalizingly close from being a real competitor to the title, but not there. So any time there's a player of any stature rumored to be available, we will start our ritual salivating. _________________ -

Eric - What do you think of a Kwame package for Sheed in the offseason? Sheed would be a perfect 2-way triangle PF, and is supposedly having issues with Flip Saunders. Webber does a lot of the same things Sheed does, but is a better rebounder and worse team defender. Maybe the pistons believe they could turn Kwame into Big Ben 2 and retain Webber as their PF. If we traded Kwame, Cook, and a couple of picks I think we could snag Sheed.
SF: Odom/Luke/Vlad
PF: Sheed/Odom/Turiaf
Cc: Bynum/Mihm/Sheed
Pretty good frontcourt no? |

I think Sheed is starting to lose his effectiveness at this point - I'd be against it. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

eh - I don't pay much attention to the boards over there - no moderation and not a lot of sense.

eric,
What about Kwame and change (Mihm or McKie) for Gasol? Gets West off the hook for a long contract and gives them breathing room next summer when Mihm and McKie come off the books. 2008 salary would be about $38 mil and 2009 would be in the $20-30 mil range.

As much as Kidd is as an "upgrade" to our point guard 'situation' I just don't see the Lakers even considering taking on that contract. Especially since Jordan Farmar has a high ceiling. Remember, Farmar is just a rookie and the team is playing much better than last year. And it's not just because of triangle experience. Farmar has a lot of the intangables that Kidd has, including ball pressure and athleticism.
The Lakers finally have a pure point guard, in Farmar, and a pure center, in Bynum. I don't think they move either, whether any deal persents itself. Including an All-star caliber player. I think both are included in Buss' untouchables including Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom. Phil's untouchables including Luke Walton and Brain Cook.
I really do think this team is done with changes. No trades. No upgrades. We are what we are. Kwame Brown and Smush Parker are LA Lakers. No trades. If a team wants them, they've got to do better than an "upgrade."
I call B.S. all the way. Just someone praying we replace Parker with an All-star. |

Power Forwards, whom can play Center, that can shoot the ball anywhere on the court are very valuable. Rasheed Wallace carries a big price tag. He may not be the monster he was inside, in Portland, but he is still a consistant player, whom is the difference of whether or not Detriot makes the playoffs this year.
Maybe with the cheap signing of Chris Webber, Dumars even thinks of moving Rasheed Wallace. I just don't think Joe Dumars is that stupid. He knows what he has, and he's not going to move any of his starting five. |

I think LA would consider that move - but I don't think the Grizzlies would - but crazier things have happened.
Call it possible - but extremely, extremely unlikely. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

They were more than willing to trade him for Artest. I don't think "they" is Phil and Kobe - it's Mitch, Buss and the FO. |

the lakers didn't consider bynum for artest - if you want to call the lakers "phil" and "kobe" that's not accurate. The Lakers are the Buss' family as owners - their word is bigger than anyone else in the org. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

That was my point.
The poster said Phil and Kobe would and you said they wouldn't. I was trying to clear up the "they" part. You clearly meant uppermanagement. |

Kwame, Radmanovic and Smush for Kidd would be a good trade for the Lakers. Kwame and Radmanovic realy dont have a long term future with the Lakers, as starters anyway. Here is how the roster would look after that trade.
PF-Odom/ Cook
SF-Walton/ Evans
C-Bynum/ Turiaf
PG-Kidd/ Farmar/ Williams
SG-Bryant/ Vujacic/ McKie
Kidd would probably give us something like 12-7-7. That would be wonderful for us Laker fans. |

the Nets just lost their third straight by 1 point! their next two are at Denver and Utah. Rod Thorne did not look paticularly happy! _________________ “What is 17,505”
