Kuz might be asking that money in 2021 but until then we get a potentially game changing scorer on the books for cheap
I'm excited to see what his new look shot looks like this year and how effective it is |

Yeah there is no way Pacers would take that. |
In all honesty I’m more interested in sending Kuz to Boston for Brown straight up. |
Too easy, huh?
How about Kuz for Buddy Hield? |
How bout keeping Kuz becuz he is better than Brown and Hield. Plus he is bigger, cheaper and we have way too many SFs/guards on this team.
Kuz will be better than Turner as well. |
Is he, tho? |
Hield just turned down a four year, 100 million dollar contract. He wants 110 million for four years. Kuz is on ... 3 mil a year? We can't afford Hield |
I could chip in a few grand per year if you've got $109M and change lying around.
Now Jeanie Buss? She can afford Buddy Hield.
You don't think Kuz will be asking for a $100M + contract in 2021? |
But what's his cap hold? |
Do you think he makes a stink if he doesn't get his extension next fall? _________________ Under New Management |

Kuz took a pretty big step forward last year. If he takes another big step forward this year he might be worth the money, but we'll have to wait and see. You have to remember Hield is 27 this December, and he's also not worth the money he's going to get |

I don't want to get wrapped up in your erotic fanfic.
I'm just curious to see what lengths they'll go to to chase the Giannis fantasy and perplexed as to why you assume that this front office won't lose him for little to nothing in pursuit of bigger fish as they did with most of their young players who weren't traded for AD. _________________ Under New Management |

It is true that Hield is an old man. He's also one of the rare elite shooters in the league and doesn't play the same position as Anthony Davis. _________________ Under New Management |

can the clippers even trade for a third star? they gave up a lot of picks, and the only young player they have to trade are shamet and robinson. |

No. Not only did they give up pretty much every first round pick they had, at a minimum they'd need to trade two of Beverly, Harkless, or Williams + filler and not only will you not get much back for that but there'd be no point. You'd gut the team. |

I think Ibaka makes the most sense for them. Instant chemistry with Kawhi and you can potentially re-sign him for cheap allowing you to retain Harrell. Toronto could be interested in a package of Zu/Robinson but I could easily see them being outbid. I don't see any other realistic moves that would upgrade their frontcourt any better. They're in the last phase of building a real contender and don't have much room for error. |
Wouldn't be enough. Ibaka (like Adams) makes over 20 mil a year, Zu+Robinson makes 10. Chuck in Beverly and you might have a trade |
This is another dilemma for them. If they want to seriously improve they're going to have to break up the core of Lou/Trez/Beverly that made them relevant and gave them an identity. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

I think he is absolutely better than Brown and Hield. IMO Brown is super overrated because he is on the Celtics and the media always over-hypes those guys, plus the weak conference.
Hield, IMO is a one dimensional scorer who is not a very good defender or passer. Those things can be said about Kuz, but I feel that Kuz is way better off the ball than Hield and his size is important to me because we have waaaaay too many guards on this team and we have a thin front court (DH's back, Javale's minutes limit, AD's history of missing games). Plus Kuz is still improving IMO and he played a much more well rounded game last season. It will only improve this year. And yes the additional year of a low salary is important too. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

LA has telegraphed that they're preserving cap space for 2021. That means next offseason there will be no new multi-year deals on current players (save Davis) and no extension for Kuzma.
He's hitting rfa almost for sure. |

As long as Sabonis is traded to a EC team it doesn’t matter to us but if he gets traded to a team like the Rockets then we are gonna have to deal with the Rockets a lot more this year. |

I realize the short-term roster issue, but long-term is Kuzma ever a starter with the Lakers?
I'm not interested in Jaylen Brown and I think it would be hilarious to see Ainge forced to pay him $25M per season to be a middle class Robert Covington, but no evidence you presented points to Kuzma being better than him.
Similarly, you assert that Kuzma was better off ball than Hield, but Hield was far more efficient than Kuz coming off screens, spotting up, off of handoffs, and even off of cuts, which was Kuz's bread and butter last season. Heck, Hield was more efficient than Kuz in transition last season for the simple fact that threes are better than twos and Hield took 600+ 3s and hit nearly 43% of them.
But regardless of who the player coming back in a trade may be, if he's as good as you think he will be, then the Lakers face a future Kuzma dilemma as long as AD is the team's starting PF. _________________ Under New Management |

Mea culpa, though I was riffing off of Zach Lowe's recent bold predictions article. It makes sense if Sabonis is asking for a max or near max deal behind the scenes. _________________ Under New Management |

Often the worst type of players to have on your books are the players that aren't max, and that aren't min. Max players are often worth more than the cap and min players sometimes just hop on for various reasons even if they're worth more.
The worst type of players to fill your cap space up with are a bunch of 20-30 mil players, or fake max players, which is where your Hield's fit in. I would rather just seem him go elsewhere TBH.
If we need 3 point shooting we can get that cheaper. |

The difference between Kuzma and the players you referenced is they (Zubac, Wagner, Bonga, Jones) had not consistently displayed their on court impact at the NBA level. Not saying they are lesser talents but their value as an asset was still unknown. Zubac had shown out enough where you could project being a solid rotation player but not sure how he was perceived by NBA talent evaluators vs us fans. |
