Someone mentioned Greg Brock, I remember as a kid being at Dodger Stadium and Brock hit a popup to second base. He didn't run to the first, the second baseman dropped the popup, but had all day to go get the ball and then throw to first base for the out. Dodger Stadium let out this massive

I didn't get the official distance, but Gavin Lux hit another ball about 450 feet tonight in OKC. As a Twitter user put it, "that ball left OKC faster than Paul George did." |

So Roberts doesn't expect Hill back to be a starter which is good news for our bullpen rotation. Hill, Baez, May, Kelly, Jansen is pretty solid.
And I saw that Lux home run and that dude is absolutely crushed that thing. Reminded me of Hamilton. |

Here is is (about 1:20): https://dodgerblue.com/dodgers-highlights-tony-gonsolin-austin-barnes-jedd-gyorko-gavin-lux-home-run-oklahoma-city/2019/08/13/
The outfielder didn't bother to move--actually he started to take a step and turned back around to face home.. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

The Dodgers put Tyler White on the IL with a hangnail injury (might as well be that, it's so transparent), and recalled Kyle Garlick. I guess they don't want to call Lux up unless he's going to get every day AB's. I was kind of hoping that they would call him up while he's still scalding hot, and see if he can sustain such a streak in the big leagues. |

They'd have to release a player from the 40 man roster. Garlick's already on the 40 man roster |

It's been discussed in here. Obviously, we got reamed, but I've said I can live with it. The Dodgers have turned out so many great prospects, and kept so many of the right ones that they refused to deal, that I'm not going to lose any sleep over losing one guy who apparently is a stud. You can't get them all right. It's just not realistic. The kid seems like a perfect American League DH, and the Astros obviously got a steal. |

Very good read:
https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/08/13/walker-buehler-los-angeles-dodgers-sandy-koufax
Walker Buehler Has the Arm, Arsenal and Attitude to Be a Star
Quote: | The Dodgers never saw this coming. Where they thought they might be getting another Greinke, they have a combination of Greinke and Aroldis Chapman.
Baseball America didn't see this coming, writing of Buehler just after he was drafted: "He throws his fastball in the low-to-mid 90s, though it doesn't have a ton of life."
Twenty-three teams, the ones that passed on him, didn't see this coming.
His own father didn't see this coming, certainly not back when Walker entered Vanderbilt at 145 pounds and would call home ready to quit because of the grind. "I don't know how he does it," says Tony Buehler, a commercial banker in Denver. "Not a day goes by when I'm not ... I walk into my office and I've got his jersey from his first major league win on the wall. I'll stand there and look at it and...."
Tony's voice begins to break. Then he starts to sob.
"And I'll start crying. Like I am now. It's unbelievable."
Both Walker and Tony know the exact moment when defying his size and expectations became possible: June 4, 2012.
"I'll never forget that night," Tony says. "It was probably the lowest moment he ever felt. Baseball-wise, it certainly was."
Says Walker, "I don't think I'd be here without it."

^ thanks for sharing. It's so great to see Walker turn into a Cy Young pitcher in front of our eyes - and in such a short amount of time. |

I think that was the general feeling when he was drafted. He was a kid that fell for other reasons than baseball talent and if he was developed the right way could turn out to be a real steal. Thankfully he was available when the Dodgers drafted him and that they didn't rush him. I thought Jeren Kendall was going to be the next draft day dropping steal, but unfortunately his hitting issues are still ongoing. |

We are just obliterating the Marlins in Miami over the first 2 games of the series. Bellinger is looking quite mortal lately, but Justin Turner is doing his annual catches-fire-in-the-summer tour, which is picking up the slack. Dodger starters have a 0.53 ERA over their last 51 innings, I think I heard, on the broadcast. |

Yankees went 17-2 vs. Orioles.
What would our record be if we could play the Marlins 19x? |

I think it's the MVP race rather than fatigue. He's pressing. |

Jansen is going to pitch at least once per series regardless of situation. He and Roberts believe the consistency will help his mechanics and habits. I hope they're right. |

Naw, we're about 3/4 of the way through the season. 50+ is reasonable with an outside shot at maybe 55 or something imo. _________________ KOBE |

The pitching staff took it on the chin today against a AAA team, not encouraging entering a brutal weekend series against the ATL to make or break our NL home field advantage aspirations. |

Who do you guys think takes May's start against ATL since Roberts doesn't want to use him (saving him for if we see ATL in October)? Gonsolin? Stripling? |

Quote: | Dodgers: Dustin May appears headed for the bullpen
Dustin May has made quite an impression over his first three big-league starts. Still, the Dodgers’ flame-throwing rookie appears headed to the bullpen.
Prior to Thursday’s matinee against the Marlins, Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts said that the club has not made a decision on Dustin May’s next start. Roberts also said that an internal candidate could replace him Sunday against the Braves, with one possibility being Tony Gonsolin who last pitched on Monday for the OKC Dodgers.
If May does get shifted to the bullpen, this could be a little gamesmanship on the Dodgers’ part. The Braves have a strong possibility of being the team that meets the Dodgers in a possible NLCS matchup and this would prevent Atlanta from facing Dustin May before the postseason. The other reason for this shift is innings.
A temporary role shift would also allow the Dodgers to get a look at Dustin May as a reliever in case he ends up pitching out of the bullpen in the postseason. During the NLDS, the Dodgers could go with a three-man rotation which would mean if May saw action in the NLDS, it would come as a reliever.
While there is still a slim possibility that Rich Hill could make it back as a postseason starter, that remains unlikely and it is also unlikely that the Dodgers would start Stripling or Maeda over Dustin May in the postseason. Dustin May remains the favorite to be the fourth starter in the playoffs for Los Angeles.
