Does Jerry West convince Kawhi to play with Bron on a superteam? I have my doubts.
But if we had Jerry. We probably grab an attainable star free agent instead. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

I don't think that Leonard would go to the Clippers without Jerry West. At worst he would have resigned with Toronto. |

Finally a voice of reason. Players go to teams cus of the players. Jerry West is a legend, but he left LA Lakers because he was a nervous wreck. The man is ancient.
Highly respected but a little too much. The 80's Lakers dominated cus of one man. His name is Magic Johnson, drafted by Bill Sharman, not Jerry West. The logo wanted Sydney Moncrief. Look it up young folks. |
West didn't just build Showtime 80s Lakers. Why are you forgetting recruiting Shaq and trading for Kobe?
and West then helped build Golden State. He saved them from themselves when they were about to trade Klay Thompson for Kevin Love. |

That could be true. Convincing Kawhi to leave a championship team is quite an accomplishment in itself. Kudos to Jerry.
But convincing Kawhi to be LBJ's sidekick. Convincing Kawhi and New Balance he should play on a superteam with 2 other Nike star players. The same Nike that owns the Jordan brand that spurned Kawhi in the first place.
That's an impossible sell. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

This isn't Jerry's first rodeo.
- recruited Shaq to LAL
- recruited Kevin Durant to GSW
- recruited Kawhi Leonard to LAC

I'm familiar with his history. That's why I believe he wouldn't have wasted his time on Kawhi, since Kawhi was never gonna be LBJ's sidekick.
We sign Butler or DLO, we're favorites right now. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

No chance Jimmy Butler wanted to come to LAL and be the third wheel in this drama. Jimmy chose to go to Miami because he wants his own team built around him, and Pat Riley is on Jerry West's level as far as exec ability goes. If Jimmy was all about being on a stacked team, he would have stayed in Philly.
That leaves DLO. 50/50 on that one. He really wanted to go to Golden State, he loves Curry. But I think we could have had him. |

When we had less than the max available. He was the 1 player that was willing to come for less than the max. Based on reports. I guess you could say the reports are wrong. But then how do we know what reports to believe and which ones not to believe? _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

It hurts, we put a lot of chips in and played it out to the end. But really, would you rather have not pursued KL and gone in a different direction?
It's not Jeannie's fault, it's not Rob's, Lebron's or Ad's fault either.
Yeah, I'll blame Magic, he is responsible for all the bad press at the end of the season, that does not help. If He had landed us KL, then yeah, water under the bridge, but if there is a stink, its from Magic turning yellow and then a stool pigeon.
We trade for Anthony Davis
We fired Luke
We didn't trade Kuzma
We have Green, McGee, Dudley, and that vet. minimum guy from the Suns.
We re-signed KCP - well, it was good up to this point....
We still have $11.5 million cap space
We still have the $.8 room exception
We still have miles to go before we sleep.... _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

We went from having DLO, BI, Randle, Zu... Hell we even lucked up when that trade of AD didn't go through and we got to keep Zo and BI, but we didn't look at it as everything happens for a reason. We got a 2nd chance and blew it. We even had a #nd chance at acquiring Russell back and blew it. What the Lakers did do though is balance out the NBA. Smh |
Is it Ok to give up so much to bring in 2 all stars?
Asking for a friend |
We gave up a lot for 1 star. We had a enough cap space to sign LeBron. It was the trying to free up so many max spaces that got us. That plan was the worst. I mean we did end up keeping Kuz, which I believe we needed to keep BI instead, but that remains to be seen. I also didn't like the whole "building around an 35 year old superstar" stance. That is not a good idea in my opinion. |

Im assuming we're discounting Lawrence and the former thunder front office guy who's on the clip FO. |
He got Paul George.
He kept whatever was going down out of the media's hands and off their lips.
Just like he used to do for the Lakers and taught Mitch to do.

No, he "walks" on water. He is as good at the business side of basketball as he was playing the game. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Lebron was coming anyway. Ronald McDonald could’ve been the owner Lebron would’ve come. Lebron and klutch delivered AD. Jeanie created the the FO chaos and made the lakers a laughingstock of the league when Jerry West offered his services. |

Given how poorly the lakers have been runned the last few years, it's indicative of the FO's incompetence to pass on Jerry West. |
