Are you serious?
Are you willing to trade Odom or Kwame to do it? Kidd is making $18M this year with another 2 years left. That is one ugly contract.
I'd like to see the Lakers upgrade the backcourt but not by hurting other parts of the team.
No thanks. |

Kidd would cost too much most likely.
On another note, Nazr Mohamed may be available. A Vlad for Mohamed swap would be a nice insurance move at the C spot. |

The only triple double Kidd should be worried about is the 3 children who are having their lives ruined by 2 jerks. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

J-Kidd would definitely put us over the top in my opinion. Not only could he set up Kobe for easy buckets but he is a top notch defender, something we lack at the point guard position.
However, who would we offer? Mihm, McKie, picks? That doesn't seem like enough to get it done. There is probably a lot of competition for Kidd. I could see the Minisoda T-pups making a bid for him if they start to struggle. _________________ Good Laker book I recommend, "The Biggest What-If's in Lakers History" http://www.amazon.com/Biggest-What-Ifs-Angeles-History-ebook/dp/B00BB3OEC0 |

This came out almost two weeks ago... kind of weird it's not getting more press... it's not like he's not racking up triple dubs weekly... |

Good thought. After a couple weeks of Nazr, no one would complain about Kwame's hands. I'm not sure, but I think Nazr is a close blood relative of Samaki Walker _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. If we do gut the team to bring in JKidd do we have to take that psycho wife of his and their bobblehead offspring?! _________________ "Now we're so happy we do the dance of joy."

He's still solid. Granted, he isn't quite what he used to be. Still better than any point guard we have on the squad or have had in recent memory. GP wasn't the Glove when he was here, so yah, Kidd would be the best defensive point we've had in a long time. _________________ Good Laker book I recommend, "The Biggest What-If's in Lakers History" http://www.amazon.com/Biggest-What-Ifs-Angeles-History-ebook/dp/B00BB3OEC0 |

Word. Joumana is the likely result of Doug Christie's wife combined with a serious meth habit. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

nah - I don't think the Nets will take a junk package of last years and Vlad Rad for Kidd.
I don't think LA moves Kwame for Kidd mid-season. _________________ Salary Cap Strategist and Columnist at Bleacher Report and on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/EricPincus |

A Kwame/Vlad package I think barely works under the CBA (within the 25% salary differential). If not you could always add McKie. NJ is desperate for big men and Kwame would get all the minutes he wants. But the Lakers would have to be confident that Kwame doesn't have a future here and I'm not sure that's the case. Plus, they may get better packages for Kidd. Honestly I don't see them getting any great deals considering his age (nearly 34) plus the nearly $40M left on his contract for 07-08 and 08-09, not including whatever they have the pay the rest of 06-07.
Assuming this report is even true, which I kind of doubt.

Plus his superb skill and knowledge as a defender can do nothing but help Smush/Jordan/Sasha. I only wish those three had been here for a season with Payton, that would have been helpful. |

"Solid" and "top notch" are 2 entirely different things. Regardless of what we have defensively at PG, the truth is, Kidd is no longer a "top notch" defender, that was the point. _________________

If the Nets were serious about trading Kidd, they could get a lot more than Kwame or Vladrad with some junk. |

Solely based on past appearances and past reputation. Much like how MJ later on would just get the nod because of rep. _________________

Yep, it's all about the Rep! Shaq is still regarded as the most dominant in the NBA even as he sits out with injury. Even Magic Johnson spewed that "Shaq is still most dominant" crap at half-time yesterday. |
