So Denver got a 2nd rounder(44) two spots ahead of us for just cash? AND they get to swap 2nd rounders with Miami in 2022 if they want to?
Lakers had to give up and 2nd and cash for the 46th pick. |
Didn’t have to. Chose to. |

I was REALLY hoping the team would swoop in on this one. Now I don't feel so bad for missing out on Cody Martin or Miye Oni or the other 2nd round big guards/ 3&Ds. Good size, willing defender, and a solid, proven college shooter.
Anyone explain how these UDFA signings affect the cap space? I have no problem going for depth over a 3rd max, but I don't want the team waiting too long to finagle a deal and screwing up any more chances to get depth that we sorely need. |

just saw 30mins of THT and Dort s highlights..
Dort looks like a poor man s Marcus smart without the handles, lacks ballhandling, vision, lenght, don't like his stroke also doesn't seem to have the soft touch, he just seems to rely on his strength and athleticism.
THT reminds me of kwahi more than bonzi. he s got lenght, knows how to shield off the defenders while attacking the rim. i feel THT has PG handles, has very good vision, good stroke, seems to have a nice Stepback already. Can drive, midrange ,pass, and eventually develop 3 point range. he seems to have a soft touch and a smooth shooting form, doesn t even need to use his strength or athleticism to get separation from his defenders while attacking the rim. seems to be under control just smooth and highly skilled. His ballhandling, lenght, and his overall smoothness of the game really jumped out at me..
Defensively i think he has the chance to have a HUGE impact.
from the couple of tapes i saw of him from his senior year in high school to his freshman year in Iowa st., his ballhandling as well as his overall game seemed to have improved alot. this is the 1st time where a prospects 1st year in college looked better than his senior year in high school for me. usually do to easier competition in high school.
only saw 30mins of highlight tape so of course I could be wrong lol. but if I'm the LAL i d hire a personal trainer for THT to work on toning his body and gaining explosion and core strength, and get him crap load of repetition on that jump shot.
btw I would of taken culver with the 4th pick, and from the few tapes I 've seen on both of them i feel THT has higher ceiling than culver. now flame away lol |
I'm excited to see what a year of having an NBA team work on his body will look like. Such intriguing clay. |
look what our trainer has done to the Kardashian bodies, he can work miracles lol |
and a whole lot of cocaine. |

As long as they are signed for the minimum salary, no impact because the various team salary scenarios always have several minimum salary slots included. The only difference is there would be an actual name rather than Minimum Salary. |

Ooh, Holman’s a nice get too
Does this deal eat into our cap space though? |

Any one know what happened to the French center (Darel Poirier) we worked out?
Also, did Moses Brown get signed?

https://www.thestepien.com/2019-individual-rankings/ here's a cool tool, all The Stepien draft guys rankings. They watch all the games so that accounts for something. THT is ranked in the teens on 3/6 boards. Norvell is top 51 on 4/6. |

THT is also #24 (Good Laker number) on the Stepien's composite draft ranking.
Great pickup for us.

Quote: | 3.14 Talen Horton-Tucker- I think my main reservation with THT is the worry he gets taken by a team late first or early second round and doesn’t get a ton of leeway for mistakes and growth. As a prospect though I really like THT quite a bit. He showed awesome flashes of so many skills throughout the year, both offensively and defensively. His finishing at the rim is among the best in the class to go along with a good, functional handle. His strength and wingspan allow him to play bigger than his size and once he turns some fat into muscle, he has real room for athletic growth. If he can continue to improve his shooting and decision-making, Horton-Tucker has upside to be a top 5 player in the class. |

Quote: | One of the more raw prospects at this stage of the draft, Horton-Tucker is one of this classes best at-rim finishers, leveraging his coordination, strong upper body, and roughly +9 wingspan effectively around the basket. He showed some flashes of defensive versatility as well, particularly when he had the opportunity to use his upper body and length to absorb contact and contest shots rather than defend in space with his slow feet, but largely had an up-and-down season on both ends of the floor. He would be in the tier above this one were rookie contracts a year or two longer. It’s difficult to bet on high end upside with guys who don’t have a distinct marketable skill to get on the court to develop within their first two years. |

I feel like every undrafted player should be running to the Lakers. Empty roster, two superstars setting you up, lots of national exposure. |

No doubt. Can we get Ponds?
Guys may actually have a very good chance to make the team, especially if we get a 3rd star. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

So to sum up, we got THT at 46, gave a 2-way to Norvell, and gave 3 others players camp invites. Our fourth pick got traded by new orleans to atlanta.
Is that correct? _________________ Kobe |

Hey guy I’m excited about THT after looking into him for like 5 mins - what about those shooting #s though? Can someone give a little insight on his role that past year and path for improvement? _________________ Austin Reaves

Norvell - "He is one of this draft’s worst athletes regardless of position, alongside Kansas’s Dedric Lawson. Norvell at least checks some boxes as a wing with some size who can reliably hit his threes and isn’t terribly flaggy in most other areas."
Not a ringing endorsement for a 2-way contract... |
