As I continue to watch tape on these draftees, the 2 that stand out continue to be Garland and Culver. If we stay at 4, one of these two would be grand.
Personally i would like to trade to 8 and 10. Pick up Goga or Clarke as a big and then take a real hard look at a possible sleeper in 5 star recruit Darius Bazley. i know, he is currently being looked at in the 2nd round, BUT that's what a sleeper is guys. 2nd rounder with lottery talent. He looks like a real steal to me. The old Manu, Tony Parker, Draymond Green type of steal/sleeper
I am high on Bazley. If he shows out in workouts then I believe he will go in the 1st. Just too much talent and skill plus mearsured out nicely.
I can't get over the hype for Clarke. Projected PF/small ball C who is < 210 lbs with a 8'6" standing reach, almost 23 years old with no outside shot. He can jump and has good athleticism but it is hard to find a comparable player currently in the NBA. I may date myself but for some reason I think of Danny Vranes coming out of Utah.
There is a reason you can't find a comp for Clarke.......he is a unicorn. He will be a great player for whoever drafts him. He just will find a way to make a difference. I would be fine with Clarke and Bazley. Bazley would fill the BI void if traded. Clarke the Randle void.
I don't doubt Clarke can be a rotational player in the NBA. Just don't see him being special in any manner on the court.
The blocks won't translate, he will be pushed around in the paint, is not special in regards to quickness and I question his ability to defend on switches. His BBIQ may be his best asset but being near 23 I would expect him to play smarter than 19 year olds.
If he had more length and could shoot I would be more positive about him.
All valid points, but what makes him special to my eyes and a unicorn of some nature is his innate ability to find the ball, such quick twitch jumping ability to minimize any length issues, and as you said extremely high bbiq. All will add up to me, as a very resourceful and important rotational player. Almost Rodman esque.
The weight will be put on by whatever team drafts him. He should be close to 220 by season start. Diet and training....easy fix.
I am all in to trade back for a future top 4 protected pick and pick Goga that is the best move for us I think after looking at all the option trade to from 6 to maybe 9 or 10 ask for a future first and call it a day
All swishes... none of those rattling around the rim type makes.
I can edit a video of me doing the same if you’d like. 😝
I know you mean though. I’m watching highlights from people who are making bankshot 3’s and assists they shouldn’t get credit for. It’s nice to see a person like Garland who’s jumper’s so wet. Reminds me of LouWill the way he plays.

For a team that shoots as bad as the Lakers, the best shooter in the draft with Dame/Kyrie skillset is my top choice.

Lol...
You'd be surprised how many include highlights of their shots bouncing around the rim. Not a bad amount of swishes for such a tiny sample size.
All this hype for someone who wont play over 25 min a game their first 3 seasons with the team. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason!

Nice clip I came across today of Garland's highlights at Vanderbilt.
Reminds me some of Deangelo Russell. Not the quickest, but knows the cuts .
Garland looked much quicker in high school than in college. Putting on some muscle slowed him down imo. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

It's not about hype.
It's about narrowing the gap between the 1st and 29th best three point shooting teams.
If we were 15th... even 20th in shooting... sure draft the defensive stud.
We need shooting
There has never been a team who has won a title shooting as poorly as we do.
Garland could bust... but he's what we need.
Drafting for need is what gets GMs and scouts fired. BPA no matter what. Especially since the player wont get a lot of minutes. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason!

So you think Culver is a more tradeable asset than Garland?
Some have Culver on a higher tier... everyone else available is on the same tier.
Considering Garland fits our need and is more valuable as a trade asset to teams like the Suns or Bulls... it's not such an easy call.
If you worry about tradeable assets, you shouldnt be picking in the first place. Just agree to a trade before the draft. Why would we trade 4 to the bulls or suns? Booker is the only good player on either team. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason!

No more players with broken or suspect shooting.
Garland has a full 4-game sample size shooting well and was still under 80% from the FT line. That's a little bit suspect to me. _________________ Under New Management

No one really knows and I don’t pretend to have seen every minute or even enough, all I’m saying is his shot looks the most fluid and legit to me and I’m tired of seeing unorthodox, not fluid, scared and/or terrible shooters on this team.
I’m also really really tired of the embarrassing FT stuff, sometimes makes me wonder how these guys even made it on NBA team.
It may sound harsh, but you really can’t have this bad of a shooting team and that’s why I’m saying Garland but I’m 90% sure it won’t matter, traded pick.

If Barrett and Garland were both available at #4, you'd take Garland? _________________ Under New Management
